It was very good except for the seaweed! It was taking over the beach! The staff worked hard to clean up!

Pros: It was clean and all the staff were accommodating and friendly - actually seemed like they enjoyed working there.
Cons: Linen sheets for beds need to be new - we had stains on ours and I don't expect that for a 3.5 or higher resort.
Location: visit Christiansted, Buck Island and just drive around the island - very nice!
Christensted was our everyday place to go hang out and eat / drink. Best dinner was at 40 Strand Eatery - excellent food and service. You Are Here is known to have the best pizza in town (the owner is from Cleveland OH). Fort Christian Brew Pub was the most fun place to hang out - have drinks, meet people and good bar food. The owner of the Palms at the Pelican does night snorkeling for his guests - that's a treat! Overall the all the people we met up with at the resort were very friendly and accommodating. Great place to relax and enjoy your vacation. Definitely would return there again!

Great vacation! Snorkeled the reef right behind hotel with Chuck, the owner, during day and night. The Palms have great food, excellent views of the ocean from every area and excellent customer service. Can't wait to visit again!

Disappointing Stay – Rooms are Sub-Par 2 stars atPosted Aug 30, 2015
Pros: See full review on TripAdvisor.
Cons: See full review on TripAdvisor.
Location: See full review on TripAdvisor.
This review is based on the rooms only. It’s simple, when you book the #1 Hotel in Christiansted via TripAdvisor reviews and analysis, you should have a worry-free experience and your expectations are set high. With the Palms - there lies the problem. Once you see the room(s) and the deplorable condition they are in, your expectations are shot and disappointment settles in hard. The Palms is at best a 2 star hotel and that may be pushing it. Read the sub-par reviews on TripAdvisor, they are spot on! That is your true measure. I have spoken to management about the deplorable conditions of the rooms. I will not repeat them; hopefully management has taken my cues/comments and has started to rectify the issues (I owe them that). BUT there is just no excuse for an unkempt room. Bottom line EVERYBODY wants a clean safe comfortable room. People will not stay in poor rooms and it will start to impact your ongoing reviews; it’s just a matter of time. At $200+ a night is beyond reproach – there is just no value. My goal is by no means to kill their business ---- the Palms still has a solid TripAdvisor good standing and it will take some time for their rating to change but it will start to happen. My goal is to inform the consumer on what this hotel really is and to not be duped by the reviews and have their expectations unfulfilled. This review needed to be direct and honest – no frills, the truth. See full review on TripAdvisor.

Location is great, but...Posted Aug 24, 2015
The hotel is experiencing a bit of disrepair. Low quality stained mattresses-no support, queen beds on king frames. Towels dingy and not the bestimate quality. Termite trail in room. Termite nest on tree entering the property. Staff and housekeepers are friendly and helpful--the best part of the establishment. I've been coming here for years, btw.

The Good and the BadPosted Aug 19, 2015
Pros: Nice to have mini-fridge in room and easy access to microwave and ice. Short walk to grocery/liquor stores. Secluded location.
Cons: The food and the cleanliness of the sheets and towels.
Location: The Buccaneer Hotel was great. You MUST take the trip to Buck Island! The beach is like none other!
The entire bay and adjacent beach was un-swimmable due to huge amounts of seaweed, sea grass and sea urchins. The hotel itself was really just a step up from a motel. The bed was uncomfortable and the sheets and towels had stains on them. The food at the on-site restaurant was just "OK", but certainly not anything to get excited about. What was nice was that our ground floor room had a patio that bumped right up to the beach and the shoreline is beautiful. The hotel was nearly deserted, so there was plenty of privacy. In the end, the shortcomings of the hotel weren't as big of a deal as they might normally be because in St. Croix all beaches are public and you can easily go and spend the day at The Buccaneer (highly recommended) or any of the other hotels/beaches in the area. That, coupled with the price meant that we simply didn't spend our days at the Palms, we only returned at night to sleep.

A Way To Love YourselfPosted Aug 19, 2015
Pros: The food, the people, the view. No, the view, the food, the people. No, the people, the view, the food. No, .....
Cons: A small corner in our room needed patching. I am fairly particular and this lack did not at all deter from the joy of the experience.
Location: St. Croix juxtapositions great wealth and abject poverty in greater proximity than many might see at home. No end of things to do.
The Staff was charming, the food was extraordinary, and the views, breathtaking. Our sliding glass door opened just a few feet from the beach and the scene was like your most memorable painting of the entrance to Paradise. The room suffered from a bit of deferred maintenance, but was clean, quite comfortable, and well appointed. I am certainly planning a return trip.

Fantastic!!!!Posted Aug 3, 2015
Cons: No recommendation for improvement.
Location: The location was incredible!! A gorgeous expanse of beach!! Plenty of snorkeling there and nearby; Cramer Park had a lovely beach as well!!!
This was a family vacation, we stayed from 7/21-28/2015. I can't say enough about The Palms!!! First impression: nice, spacious, private, and clean rooms!!! The balcony was incredible, with phenomenal views of forever!!! The people were INCREDIBLY friendly and pleasant; Pat, at the front desk, was so much fun!!! Seriously, EVERY single person we encountered there was engaging!!! The food was fantastic!!! Hard to believe that with such a variety of menu items, each was a hit out of the park!! And you certainly were not hungry when you left!! Caribbean night was a great deal of fun as well. The snorkeling was good, the guides were excellent. Erin was our guide and she was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. The very slight downside was the Sargasso Sea Grass that's been plaguing the area; the crew worked VERY hard to keep the grass from encroaching what is otherwise an incredibly lovely beach!!! Relaxing, private, peaceful, friendly; the entire experience was unforgettable!! We will definitely be back to St. Croix and The Palms!! Also highly recommended is a trip to Buck Island (oh yes, and the kitchen will prepare one of the most delicious takeout lunches for day trips).

Amazing viewsPosted Jul 8, 2015
Amazing. Beautiful hotel and the rooms with the beach view are great. The patio doors slide right open to the wonderful view. Loved it. The beach had a lot of coral so it's probably good for snorkeling but not just open swimming. All the beaches are public though, so check them all out! The hotel was always clean when we got back from our excursions for the day and the staff was all nice. I believe we went during hurricane season (although it probably only rained for a total of 10 minutes for the whole week we stayed) but the kitchen sometimes had smaller menus. Still, the restaurant at the hotel had excellent service, faster than most other places on the island. Overall loved it
