Not a 4 starts Hotel

Posted Nov 27, 2017
Pros: lot of choices for the breakfast. Some people at the reception were nice.
Cons: Make sure that each room is ready when someone is coming. Check that everything is working.
Location: good location, lot of restaurants around
Everything was disappointing from the moment I arrive. The person at the reception was not kind and I really had the impression to bothering her. I arrived quite late and wanted to have diner in my room and she answered, the kitchen is going to close ( I arrived at 9 and the kitchen was closing at 10.00). So at the end I was with my luggage in one hand and my plate in another. So easy to get into my room with full hands. In my room I realise that internet was not working and neither the plug next to my bed (convenient to charge my phone during the night and wake up with the alarm). I didn't manage to take care of it straight away as I didn't want to bother anyone and after the welcoming that I had I wasn't sure what I could ask or not. On Thursday I came to the reception to ask for an adaptor and unfortunately I only had a 50euros note. What an issue ! the same lady at the reception was really rude because I didn't had the correct change. Surprise in the morning, Construction noises from 7.30 and that every day The day after I called the hotel to see if I could be moved into another room. The answer was yes but if I upgrade my room. Certainly not. I asked for a rooter in my room and to fix the plug. By magic it was done when I came back. They assure her that the constructions noise at 7.00 won't happen during the weekend... unfortunately it was still happening. Breakfast was not really good, from a 4 stars hotel I was not expecting a low quality.

Great sea view rooms are spectacular.

Posted Nov 10, 2017
Pros: Location close to St Julian's, Sliema. Spectacular views from sea view rooms. Friendly helpful staff. Swimming pool, sun deck, hotel Bar and terrace
Cons: The food offering at breakfast and half board dinner.
Location: Close to bars and restaurants in St Julian's, and bus to Sliema, ferries, Valletta, and sight seeing buses.
Very helpful staff at this seafront hotel. Ensure you book a room with sea view, otherwise you are likely to be facing a construction site, an extension of the Portomasso development which is opposite the hotel entrance. The hotel is modern bright and airy with good communal areas. There is an excellent bar whichever serves light lunches and an a la carte dinner menu. It also has a happy hour 🙂. It has a wonderful terrace with views across the Spinolla and Balluta bays. Good burgers, salads and pasta. There are indoor and outdoor pools and a great sun deck. Breakfast is adequate but not great; the fresh fruit offering is very limited. The buffet dinner included in the half board deal is also adequate but not great. Rooms are well appointed but TV has a very limited selection of English speaking channels, and the balconies lack privacy.

Breakfast

Posted Nov 6, 2017
We stayed 'room only' and found it difficult to arrange breakfast on the two days we wanted it.

I have stayed here before and the staff are always helpful and friendly. I was in a group. One of the rooms showerhead collapsed and was repaired within half an hour. Very happy with this.

Pleasant stay, brilliant outlook and view!

Posted Sep 29, 2017
Brilliantly located looking across Spinola and balluta bay, with sea and bay views from the poolside. 2 minute walk to spinola bay offering lots of good restaurants and pleasant seafront walk all the way to sliema. Room was spacious and clean, bathroom perhaps a bit dated but perfectly functional. Reception staff very helpful and responded promptly, also poolside staff very attentive. Staff at breakfast not particularly friendly first thing in the morning, especially when asked to refill. Breakfast did offer a good selection and and having not prepaid, €8.50 very reasonable. Would stay here again! A water taxi to Valletta would be a fantastic addition!!

Hotel has a wonderful aspect over the sea and bay.

Posted Sep 24, 2017
Pros: Aspect and staff. Lovely Maltese lady called Theresa, so helpful.
Cons: It needs a bit of updating.
Location: It's on the edge of the area full of restaurants and little bars, so not far to walk. There are plenty of buses going to both ends of the island.
The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. There are building works going on, which is making it rather busy around there at the moment and noisy for parts of the day.

Nice hotel, book your own taxi

Posted Sep 7, 2017 on Hotels
Nice hotel in a great location. Not sure if reception are the best at organisation though. First was transfer we'd pre booked from airport at 2am, no taxi waiting for us so ended up in the car of a worker from the transfer companies kiosk, then my partner had a pre booked hair appointment for a wedding that we'd come to Malta for and the spa had not been told about the appointment (she was stressing out at this point). To get to the wedding we booked a taxi a few hours earlier for 2:45pm, got to 3pm and no sign, after we'd been to reception it turned up half an hour late and the taxi said it'd only been booked 10 minutes ago. Then the taxi to take us back to the airport was late. Could be an issue with the taxi company but if so the hotel should book through a more reliable firm. A fan would be nice in the room as its too hot without air con and uncomfortable with it on through the night. But apart from that we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel

Enjoyable stay

Stayed here for the recent Malta v England football match. Good hotel in a excellent location. Only a short walk to all the bars and restaurants but far enough to still be a very quiet area at night. Make sure you get a room overlooking the bay, you get a fantastic view from the balcony. Nice clean pool, friendly staff, above average food. Overall no complaints and I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

great location

Great location over looking the harbour and 5 mins to pacevile where the strip of bars are and the main nightlife, some top restaurants around the harbour and local bars. The hotel very clean and breakfast amazing, the swimming pool salty as sea water so wear goggles. Would recommend hotel and definitely stay there again
