We arrived in the dark,and were horrified to see that the "hotel " was not a hotel, but a semi-derelict vacant building formerly used as some kind of social club. My wife was in tears, and it is no fun being in our 70's dragging suitcases around steep streets in the dark. Shame on you Expedia, you turned a relaxing holiday plan into a stressful nightmare.
location: in sliema- lively at night. hotel is literally next to he bus stop. however the rooms are very peaceful with no noise disturbance. 10 min walk either way to the beach or bay rooms: tasteful decoration, high standards of maintenance, clean, good smell. the small courtyard at the back is nice. not fussed about scenic balcony views as there is plenty of opportunity for that when i went outside. definitely lives up to its reputation as a boutique hotel. this was a good change from my usual stay in a 5 star. lounge: as the rooms are limited in number the breakfast area is not crowded. on the contrary it is peaceful and makes for an enjoyable conversation with other guests and we were looked after with attention to detail. Staff: the owner, Will was exceptionally thorough, dedicated to his guests, friendly. he drew up a plan for my 5 days stay and it lived up to its expectations. Reason to return.
Well firstly I have to say that this guest house (not hotel) really does have the WOW factor. So all the rooms are unique & furnished to a very high standard. As soon as you walk into the main door you will say WOW. As we walked into the living area, WOW. We chose the Fresco room and soon as we walked in we both said WOW. The place is really like a designer style pad & really does have the WOW factor. The team, Will, Zaklina and Gaga were all very helpful. Will even took time out to tell us what to do around Malta and plan an itinerary. Breakfast was served at a very reasonable time between 9 and 11. I liked that as normally at hotels it's like between 7 and 10, and who gets up at that time on holiday! And, in my opinion the breakfast was just right to get you through the morning until lunch and allow you to get out and explore. After all who wants to have a massive breakfast and then worry about visiting the bathroom when you have all of Malta to explore! Overall we really loved staying at the guest house, the Fresco Room was stunning, the closeness of the place to everything, and the fantastic efforts that Will, Zaklina and Gaga took to ensure that our stay was perfect. And I also have to comment on Will and how he made us feel like special. Indeed we could see that good customer service was Will's priority. It was very humbling to see that The Host Boutique Guesthouse was his passion. And that Will treated people that stayed there more like friends than customers.
Pros: Actually it's a guest house not a hotel. But it's a very palatial, sumptuous & designer style guest house. & the people that run it are very helpful.
Cons: Our stay was perfect. Not much could be improved. Everything was just right for our 7 night stay.
Location: The Host Malta is very close to Balutta Bay, St Julians and Sliema. All within walking distance. You can plan to see Mdina & Valleta from this place.
We had a great time staying with Will and his staff at his house. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating! Will, the owner, is a very friendly guy, took time to get to know us and even helped us arrange for activities, taxis, and dinner plans. We really enjoyed getting to know him. If you are in Sliema, I highly recommend you stay here. The house is huge, very nice, modern, and comfortable. They also prepare a great breakfast every morning for all of their guests. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Malta.
The host, Will welcomed us personally on arrival and went out of his way to make sure that we had everything we needed and that our stay would be enjoyable. We had the Mirror Room. It is huge, the bed is excellent and it had a nice spa bath/shower combo plus a separate toilet/sink room. It could have done with a table and seat or a lounge to sit on and there is plenty of room for this but you can use a communal lounge area if required. The continental breakfast was excellent and again they will accommodate your requirements re timing. Location is good just a short walk down to a heap of restaurants in Balluta Bay and Exiles Bay.
Pros: The personal touch, staff and breakfast
Cons: Some seating in the room and the internet connection is via a wireless metered service. This could be improved.
