Beautiful spot on the river

Posted Aug 17, 2015
Pros: Lots of amenities and a beautiful spot on the river.
Cons: reservations
We were here briefly for an engagement party down the road. We had 2 rooms for ourselves and our daughter and my mother. Originally we were given one big room and one "little" room. the rooms in the front building have either 2 double beds in one room or 2 double beds in 2 separate areas. Both had a balcony looking towards the river. My husband went back to the office and they gave us another big room for the small room. However, my brother, his wife and their daughter had asked for 2 rooms near each other and they got our old "small" room and a room in another building. that really would be my only advice. to pay the same price for rooms not even close to the same or not get what you asked for in location is off putting for some. It all worked out fine for us but it would not have for others.

Stay away, not ready for real people.

Pros: Leaving
Cons: EVERYTHING It needs a consultant to come in and totally revamp the property.
Location: It's Ogdensburg, there is the river, the Remington Museum and that's about all. There is little left of a once thriving town.
This establishment is much like most things in Ogdensburg, striving for the unattainable goal of mediocrity. According to the woman who tried to accommodate us, the original owner repurchased the motel about a year ago from a second of two intervening owners who both put nothing into the property. There has apparently been some attempts at upgrades in the last year, but they are not obvious to anyone who has never stayed there before. The room was small, barely enough room for a queen bed and two occupants. There was no room for a night table on either side. There were some nice touches, but the lack of attention to detail made things worse rather than better. The bedside lamps were a nice touch, but they were mounted too low and too close to the bed, so that when you stretched out your arms, you hit the lamp. The pillow top mattress was comfortable, until the sheets came off because they were too small for the thicker mattress. There was a large translucent panel in the only door. That would be nice if there were a way to cover it. But, the outside light was aligned perfectly to shine through the door into the eyes of those in the bed. The only window nearly fell out of the room. There were many channels to choose from on the TV, but no where was there a channel guide, so much time was spent surfing rather than actually watching. The parking lot by our room was another example of form over function. The "hot breakfast" was two quantum leaps below passable.

Great location, lovely views.

Stayed at the Stonefence Resort when attending a conference in Ogdensberg. The hotel is located right on the St. Lawrence and the views are lovely. My room in the Manor House was very large, with a balcony that overlooked an expansive lawn and the pool. My room had a rocking chair and king-sized bed. The bathroom was large and clean. I love the location as it outside the city, but close to everything. I would definitely stay here again.

We went to Ogdensburg for a college graduation at SUNY Canton. The hotel was very clean and friendly staff. The breakfast was wonderful, and a beautiful view! A very affordable rate, I would highly reccomend this hotel.

Short sheeted!

The sheets were too small for the bed. For the price this was the most uncomfortable hotel we have had in a long time!

Mary I am so sorry you were disapointed with our brand new beds. We appologise for the sheets being to short for the bed. We have recently purchased the new mattresses and they are pillow top which is larger than our existing sheets. We are awaiting the arrival of new sheets to properly fit the new mattresses.

wonderful accommodations

Posted Apr 12, 2015
Pros: comfortable accommodations, nice location near the St Lawrence seaway
Cons: If I had to nitpick, the bathroom could have used a little more thorough cleaning, esp the shower curtain which had a weird stain on the upper portion
Location: St Lawrence Seaway, near to the local Universities and easy access to Canada
Stayed one night. Found the room to be clean, beds very comfortable. Wonderful wifi service and the continental breakfast was good. If we were ever in the area again, we would definitely stay here again

Good value for the 89.95. Included breakfast which is handy since there is nowhere else to eat in the area.

Friendly, but needs cosmetic work

Standing water in shower/tub Train whistles from across the border in Canada ALL NIGHT LONG! Same sad in-room coffee service and had to bring coffee maker into bathroom to plug it in. Probably very nice in summer
