We are sorry you are disappointed and did not see the sign on the door advising to pick up the phone for service and your room keys.

Very Friendly Staff

Posted Oct 26, 2015 on Hotels
The staff is very friendly. The hotel has a wonderful view of the River if you are on that side of the hotel. The only downside is the beds are doubles, we have a tall family, and look for queen beds when we are staying at a hotel. However, the bed is comfortable and we had limited choices for lodging the this weekend. They mentioned a continental breakfast, however, we had a hot breakfast and there were several choices on the buffet. We would stay again.

We do have some queen size and king size beds in the Waterfont building along with our suites in the Manor House they both offer a view of either the grounds or the St lawrence River. I am so glad you enjoyed your breakfast. We look forward to seeing you again.

Great setting.

Check-in was friendly and prompt. We were offered a room (with a view of the river) upgrade at a reduced price so we gladly accepted. The room was larger than most other places we have stayed. A breakfast bar separated the kitchen and living area, and there was a two sectioned bathroom with heat lamp. View from the kitchen was veranda and parking area, and opposite side of the room had patio doors to deck and waterfront. Free breakfast included was self serve and the food was of good quality and hot. The only reason I didn't give a "perfect" overall rating was because it does not have a restaurant, and there is not much to see off the property that was close by. Next time we stay, my wife and I are bringing our fishing rods. Great waterfront footage with docks, Adirondack chairs, and a gazebo.

Visiting a nephew at SUNY Canton

Posted Oct 12, 2015
Pros: The view
Cons: Our room had 2 double beds (full) and it would have been far more comfortable if we had queen size beds.
Location: We only went to Canton.
Arrived early evening on a rainy Friday. The desk clerk was friendly and directed us to a place to eat close by. Our room was down by the river and would have had a lovely view had it not been raining. The next morning, the sun was shining and we had a beautiful view of the river.

Charming Hotel

This hotel was friendly and very accommodating! I even got a room upgrade to one right on the river without even asking. Breakfast was delicious. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

Beautiful spot on the river

Posted Aug 17, 2015
Pros: Lots of amenities and a beautiful spot on the river.
Cons: reservations
We were here briefly for an engagement party down the road. We had 2 rooms for ourselves and our daughter and my mother. Originally we were given one big room and one "little" room. the rooms in the front building have either 2 double beds in one room or 2 double beds in 2 separate areas. Both had a balcony looking towards the river. My husband went back to the office and they gave us another big room for the small room. However, my brother, his wife and their daughter had asked for 2 rooms near each other and they got our old "small" room and a room in another building. that really would be my only advice. to pay the same price for rooms not even close to the same or not get what you asked for in location is off putting for some. It all worked out fine for us but it would not have for others.

Stay away, not ready for real people.

Pros: Leaving
Cons: EVERYTHING It needs a consultant to come in and totally revamp the property.
Location: It's Ogdensburg, there is the river, the Remington Museum and that's about all. There is little left of a once thriving town.
This establishment is much like most things in Ogdensburg, striving for the unattainable goal of mediocrity. According to the woman who tried to accommodate us, the original owner repurchased the motel about a year ago from a second of two intervening owners who both put nothing into the property. There has apparently been some attempts at upgrades in the last year, but they are not obvious to anyone who has never stayed there before. The room was small, barely enough room for a queen bed and two occupants. There was no room for a night table on either side. There were some nice touches, but the lack of attention to detail made things worse rather than better. The bedside lamps were a nice touch, but they were mounted too low and too close to the bed, so that when you stretched out your arms, you hit the lamp. The pillow top mattress was comfortable, until the sheets came off because they were too small for the thicker mattress. There was a large translucent panel in the only door. That would be nice if there were a way to cover it. But, the outside light was aligned perfectly to shine through the door into the eyes of those in the bed. The only window nearly fell out of the room. There were many channels to choose from on the TV, but no where was there a channel guide, so much time was spent surfing rather than actually watching. The parking lot by our room was another example of form over function. The "hot breakfast" was two quantum leaps below passable.
