The Jessie Benton Suite is a one-bedroom apartment near Cortex in St. Louis' Central West End. The apartment can sleep up to four, with an excellent queen-sized bed and a sleeper sofa bed in the living room. Base rates are for two guests sharing the queen bed. If you will have two in your party, but would still like to use the sleeper sofa, please make your reservation for three.

Before your arrival, the Jessie Benton Suite will be stocked with welcome teas and treats, freshly roasted coffee, and light breakfast foods to start your stay. You'll also find a range of cleaning supplies that you're welcome to use and complimentary toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, Q-Tips, etc.). To keep our rates low, we don't replenish these items during your stay.

The "Jessie" has an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, and much more. The galley kitchen is fully equipped for basic meal preparation. A round oak table in the main room offers seating for four.

The "Jessie" has dedicated internet service with WIFI. The living room has a large flat screen television with an antenna for local channels, and Roku for your streaming subscriptions.

The "Jessie" in on the ground floor, but has one step leading to the building entrance. A laundromat is available in the building's basement.

Dynamic pricing ensures competitive rates. State lodging taxes apply to stays of less than 30 nights and City lodging taxes apply to stays of less than 32 nights. SF Shannon offers weekly and monthly discounts, which are applied at the time of booking. Contact us if you would like your reservation divided into weekly or monthly payments.

We accept same-day reservations, if you contact us by 2 PM Central Time USA. Sorry, while we all love them, we do not allow pets at the Jessie Benton Suite. Smoking is prohibited.

Parking is included. Three first-come, first-served parking spots footsteps from the front door serve the two guest apartments in the building. Please note that our staff and maintenance workers may use these spots during work days.

The Jessie Benton Suite is one block west of St. Louis University. It is four miles west of the Gateway Arch, and within three miles of St. Louis' most popular attractions: City Museum, the St. Louis Zoo, the Missouri Botanical Garden, the St. Louis Art Museum and Forest Park. The apartment is across the street from a 24-hour full-service supermarket. It is a short walk to two 24-hour pharmacies, several coffee houses, movie theaters, and many fine restaurants.

Since all of SF Shannon's vacation rental apartments are in the historic core of St. Louis, we occasionally receive the question: “Is it safe?” This question is impossible to answer, because we typically know nothing about the person asking it. The co-owners live within walking distance of each SF Shannon vacation rental. Rachel, Karen and their spouses have raised their families in their respective neighborhoods, and have always felt perfectly safe.

Why that name?
The Jessie Benton Suite is named after Jessie Benton, daughter of Missouri Senator Thomas Hart Benton and wife of John C. Fremont, the Republican Party's first candidate for US president (before Abraham Lincoln). The building is named after John Fremont, so it seemed appropriate to name SF Shannon's very first vacation rental after his wife. The official name of the apartment is: Jessie Benton Suite at The Fremont. The "Jessie" has a number of excellent books on both Jessie and John.
Air-conditioned accommodations at this apartment offer DVD players and coffee/tea makers. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and cookware/dishes/utensils. Bathrooms include shower/tub combinations and hair dryers. Housekeeping is provided on a limited basis.

This is a very nicely furnished apartment that's within walking distance from multiple dining and grocery options. Parking was never a problem. The only negative was since this location is at a corner with stoplights, the street noise was very noticeable! Im sure this is something that wouldn't bother a lot of people. That being said, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Enjoyed staying at the flat. Very comfortable and many little extras. Walked around the neighborhood, to northwest coffee, Retreat restaurant, IKEA, etc. went to Schnucks across the street. Would definitely recommend.

HOOD EXPERIMENT
this has to be one of the most INTRIGUING places I’ve ever experienced; and I mean that in the most respectful way😂 the check in and out part was smooth; the cleanliness of the apartment could have been better; bathrooms were a lil cruddy (sink especially)and my wife had to clean the bathroom before she would even enter🤦🏾‍♂️ the rest of the house was a lil dusty and in need of some TLC; we were scheduled to stay for a week so after the initial clean it was cozy and the apartment definitely had CHARACTER; kinda reminded me of the neighborhood grandmother’s apartment with all the ok’d furnishings and the gem of the whole place was the pullout bed couch; which was more comfortable than the bed in the room; LOTS of noise from the outside because it’s situated at the corner of two busy streets and the walls are paper thin; and the front window is at the intrance of the building so you can hear EVERYBODY that comes into the building; but the location just it what it is; you can tell there is some serious gentrification going on because you can go down a couple blocks and be in a totally different world; the houses and apartments are much nicer and cleaner; the complete makeover hasn’t made it to this building yet🤷🏾‍♂️ the only sore spot about this stay is the other tenants in this building; came back a couple nights to find junkies noddin in the hallway and was asked a couple times if I had anything 😉guess I was giving off drug dealer vibes because I’m black with dreadlocks but I didn’t take any real offense to it; because i realized we was just in the middle of the hood and they didn’t mean any real harm; I just wouldn’t take any kids into this type of environment; the BEST part about this place is it’s location to FOREST PARK; we went to this park every day for a week and saw something new each day; this park is the gem of the whole city to be honest and the location is perfect; it’s so much to see and do in this park you can get lost; it made our stay there so much more enjoyable; i grew up in New York and even Central Park doesn’t have anything on forest park; i would probably put up with staying in the hood just to be close to this park...if it was my last option😂 it’s that good; overall the experience was okay; nothing bad happened and you can’t beat the price
