Food poor

Posted Dec 15, 2016
Pros: Our cottage and the setting is just beautiful and the staff are very friendly.
Cons: More choice on the menu and portion size increased. Communal area mot feeling like sat in a car park and better lighting in this area.
Location: Location excellent but you do need a car or hire a taxi for the day to get to all the sights.
Very limited choice on menu and same menu every day. Portions very small and side orders consisted of around 3 carrots, 1 piece of broccoli and a bit of onion. If you visit here and do not have a car there are no shops that you can walk to to get food or snacks or even a drink so you are totally reliant on what the resort is offering. The communal area to sit outside to enjoy a drink and chat to other guests is more like a dark car park. The area around the pool was not looked after, no water in the dispenser and no cups, The sun lounger cushions had been left outside for many days and had filled up with water so could not use them on any of the days we were there.

My husband and I spent ten beautiful days at this resort, celebrating our honeymoon! We would definitely recommend it... The cottages are beautiful, very private and located close to the islands best amenities.

Nice hotel in tropical environs

Posted Oct 30, 2016
Pros: Pools were Awsome and the food was excellent, grounds spectacularly well kept, cottage was very charming.
Cons: The only bummer was that there was no air conditioning nor fans in the downstairs and it was so hot and muggy it was nearly impossible to sleep.
The hotel is authentic, historic and charming. Staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. We wish we could have had more time to enjoy the lovely pools.

Remote and unspoiled.

Posted Oct 11, 2016
Pros: The friendly staff and beautiful terrain.
Cons: The hot water is powered by solar panels, so on a cloudy day there isn't always give hot water!!
Location: There's hiking, mineral springs, sulfur baths, zip lining, botanical gardens.
This is the perfect place to relax and recharge. The hotel is a plantation where the crops are used for food in the restaurant. Rooms are separate cottages. The pool is multi level built into the volcanic rocks. If you're into quiet, good food and the environment, this place is for you.

Peace and Serenity

Posted Mar 2, 2016
I just returned home from a stay in St Lucia. All I can say is, "wow!!" The beauty of the island is breathtaking and the people are warm and friendly. I was glad to know that the people there speak English as well as their native Creole. I loved Fond Doux. The food was amazing!! Really amazing! And the cottages are set in the rainforest and are secluded and lovely. The staff there was exceptionally kind and helpful. We stayed in the Cocoa Tree cottage and it was a short, easy walk from there to the restaurant. Some of the other cottages are set high on a mountain so you might want to consider this information if you tire easily or have trouble climbing steps. Cocoa Tree has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a lovely front porch with rocking chairs, a small kitchen (with a small refrigerator), and a sitting area. The sounds of the rainforest are peaceful, but you might consider earplugs if you are a light sleeper since there is no way to completely close up the cottage, since it has mosquito screens over the windows and doors instead of glass. The Fond Doux staff was very helpful in suggesting excursions and shuttles or taxis. I especially enjoyed the Tet Paul hike!! Do not miss this! Ask for a guide named Fabius. If you are looking for a plush hotel like a Hilton then this resort is not for you. If however you are looking for a new experience filled with peace, serenity, new foods, and wonderful people then this is the place for you!

Rain Forest

Posted Feb 29, 2016
Pros: The best part was staying in our unique cottage. We also enjoyed having Jardin Caceo (great restaurant) right on site.
Cons: It was have been nice to know all the things the resort had to offer up front. We found out about the bus shuttle to the beach by accident at the bar
Location: We toured the rain forest with a local guide, he even brought us to his farm and introduced us to friends in his village.
We were living in paradise while we were at Fond Doux Plantations. The grounds were beautiful, everything is flowering or dropping fruit and the birds, chameleons, frogs were incredible. The staff couldn't have been nicer to us. They were quick to attend all our needs and were eager to visit and added so much to our experience.

Experience the rain forest and the island culture

Posted Feb 5, 2016
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful, and we liked the 'tucked away' feel of the rain forest. We also liked having our own cottage in the treetops.
Cons: There are lots of cobble stone steps and paths that lend to the authentic feel of the plantation; I'm not sure you can really do anything about that
Location: Mud baths and sulfer springs (volcano) are less than 10 minutes away. There is also a nice waterfall within in 20 minutes.
Nestled into the rain forest your private villa awaits up in the tree tops. Rustic cobblestone and 'bamboo' architecture amidst the cocoa plantation make you feel like you are really experiencing St Lucia. The food - AMAZING - with great presentation, kind and helpful staff, amidst the tropical sounds of the rain forest. The bartenders also had some unique and tasty island cocktails, and the staff made arrangements for us for transportation to our next destination, as well as to the mud baths (10 minute away).
