Peace and Serenity
Posted Mar 2, 2016
I just returned home from a stay in St Lucia. All I can say is, "wow!!" The beauty of the island is breathtaking and the people are warm and friendly. I was glad to know that the people there speak English as well as their native Creole. I loved Fond Doux. The food was amazing!! Really amazing! And the cottages are set in the rainforest and are secluded and lovely. The staff there was exceptionally kind and helpful. We stayed in the Cocoa Tree cottage and it was a short, easy walk from there to the restaurant. Some of the other cottages are set high on a mountain so you might want to consider this information if you tire easily or have trouble climbing steps. Cocoa Tree has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a lovely front porch with rocking chairs, a small kitchen (with a small refrigerator), and a sitting area. The sounds of the rainforest are peaceful, but you might consider earplugs if you are a light sleeper since there is no way to completely close up the cottage, since it has mosquito screens over the windows and doors instead of glass. The Fond Doux staff was very helpful in suggesting excursions and shuttles or taxis. I especially enjoyed the Tet Paul hike!! Do not miss this! Ask for a guide named Fabius. If you are looking for a plush hotel like a Hilton then this resort is not for you. If however you are looking for a new experience filled with peace, serenity, new foods, and wonderful people then this is the place for you!
