What a fantastic room!! We had a beautiful suite and balcony overlooking the ocean. The manager stopped by to say hello on day one of four, but otherwise the staff was pretty non-existent.

View was top, swimmable beach. Good restaurant there for Soufriere i think, but not cheap, bed was nice...firm but soft. It was fine for our first nite in St Lucia. Arrived in dark, hard to find but locals provide direction. Restaurant was good atmosphere, food acceptable, saved us having to go to an unfamiliar town place. Walk to Soufriere main area, all services there. Perhaps the only decent breakfast in town. Overall a good choice to experience authentic Soufriere town.

The location of the resort is spectacular. You are right on the beach looking up at one of the pitons. The service however is lacking. Although everyone is extremely kind, and willing to do what ever it is they need to do for you, it'll take a while.

Anicia and the entire staff were so friendly and helpful, The breakfast they served us on our balcony every morning was absolutely incredible! WiFi did not work. We occasionally ran out of hot water. Our room was very roomy (beach suite) and comfortable. The location was excellent. We walked out onto the beach and snorkeled, and then next door to the Hummingbird for a mango daiquiri for happy hour.

The hotel is built into the side of a mountain and the parking lot is on top so it's a 3-story stairs to the bottom level (no provisions for the handicapped). At the beach level is a small bar and an open eating area. On the second level are 5 2-room suites which reminded me of a lake cabin in northern Minnesota - very basic. A large combination kitchcen/living room and a bedroom separated by the bathroom. The facility could use some upgrades. The lighting was inadequate; shelves were missing from the fridge; the balcony furniture was uncomfortable and worn. But it was clean and the bed was comfortable. Even thou it was clean, we did see two cockroaches which were almost dead so the must me some type of control. The 'included' breakfast was very limited - some fruit and bread which had been passed over the top of a toaster and a small serving of scrambled eggs (which were pretty good). Lunch was buffet style and not bad. Lots of variety and tasted fine. The eating area gets quite crowded because tour groups stop there for lunch. Can't comment on dinner because the chef had quit and dinner was not served.

We paid in full in November 2018. We spoke to David to arrange transport from the airport two days before arrival in Feb 2019. It was left to the taxi driver from the airport to break the news that we were being dumped to the Hummingbird, and the hotel was overbooked. So we never got to see the facilities, the room or the restaurant despite paying for a 3 night stay. The Hummingbird though was, adjacent, excellent and very accommodating. Their restaurant was excellent. I will always book the Hummingbird in preference, and if our experience is anything to go by, if you book the Still Beach House you risk having paid for nothing and being dumped into adjoining accommodation with no notice.

We try to be environmentally friendly and in the tropics most homes have solar panel hot water systems but in order for the hot water to get to your faucet in the room the water has to be running for about a minute plus. Nonetheless, we apologize for the inconvenience.

Breathtaking view of Petit Piton. Right at the beach. When we arrived, no one was there to check us in. There is no reception desk. Tried to call the number shown on the reservation confirmation email but no one answered. Our taxi driver noticed a sign outside with the phone number (different from what we indicated on the confirmation email) and phoned that number. Only then did a housekeeping staff and security showed up and let us in one of the rooms. The plumbing made noise at interims throughout the day and night. The TV was broken and did not work.

Although the location is stunning, it is quite a run down B&B where you see signs of neglect in the upkeep of rooms. The staff (very limited) tries very hard to be helpful but is constrained by having non management on premises. With a little bit of TLC this could be an amazing place to stay.

Awesome view of Petit Piton. Beach front with amazing snorkelling. Welcoming staff that made you feel like family. It was hard to leave after 10 days. We were mainly interested in the hiking and snorkelling but the Tour of the plantation with Thomas was an unexpected highlight of our trip. David’s (the owner) hospitality and willingness to share history of the island. Short walk to town to grocery store pharmacy bank and restaurants. Waliking dustance to Anse Manin. The hill is steep. Easy access via water taxi to other snorkelling areas.

We stayed at Still Beach House for our week long honeymoon and absolutely loved it. Our room had an amazing view of the Petit Piton and the Soufriere harbor. We had a two room suite with the bedroom being well air-conditioned and the other offering a nice breeze from the balcony. The main room had a full kitchenette which we were able to make breakfast and even a dinner on. The balcony had a gorgeous view and we enjoyed eating breakfast with a mountain view every morning. There is a lunch buffet and bar downstairs. We had some of our best times in St. Lucia at that bar with the amazing staff of the Still Beach House. We truly felt like family and really enjoyed talking to Jackie, Frederick, Kinnion, and several others. Our room keeper whose name I unfortunately can't recall right now was AMAZING!!! She not only did a spectacular job at keeping the room but brought us a basket of local fruits, always had fresh picked tropical flowers and vegetation around our room and even indulged us with the islands renowned hot chocolate tea on two separate evenings which we felt was so special to us. The location of The Still is central to all area activities and you can walk a short distance into town to visit the bank. The next door Hummingbird in offers cocktails after the Still Beach bar closes and also dinner/dessert for the evening cravings. I reccommend The Still Beach House to independent travelers who want a real experience, not a "Sandals" or "Sugar Beach Plantation" curated one.

Go to Humming Bird resort nextdoor
Pros: I didn't get robbed The room was clean had 4 walls and the room ceiling didn't leak Directly on the ocean could hear the waves Great view of one of the two Pitons Cons: Challenging area (public beach very busy with locals) No running water in the day time Spotty hot water had ac but no way to close windows so ac went right out Lots of mosquitos Restaurant was a disaster, no real waitstaff just who was ever there served you? totally unmanaged In room safe was literally opened by a skeleton key? Any food order took a solid 1 hour, (but true of all restaurants on the island) The restaurant bar doubled as the front desk, 90% of the time abandoned Could not ever figure out who was in charge of anything

Not quite boutique luxury, but lovely
Arrived by taxi at night from airport. Driver had been given my room key so I just settled in - and never yet checked in at reception. I don't think there even is a front desk. The place is so laid back and the position on the beach opposite the Pitons hills is stunning. Soufriere is quite small and you can walk into town in 5 minutes. Be prepared to be approached on the way by locals wanting to sell you something, but they aren't persistent. Found it quieter not going directly along the beach and taking main road into town. The usual calm of the place is often disturbed at lunchtime by noisy parties of cruise ship passengers on an excursion, and there is some noise at night from the resort next door. But you learn to live with it and the view from room 1 compensates a great deal. Friendly chambermaid, but she didn't do her rounds till about 4 p.m. And the place is built on a hill with 2 flights of steep stairs from car park to ground floor (bedrooms on first floor) so no good at all for anyone with mobility issues.

lovely Beach House with awesome view
Lacking in management and meals at the attached restaurant, run by brother & sister. But VERY pleasant. Rm 1 best view of the beach & Mt. We stayed a few days and loved it! Nearby outings great. Beach & harbor with wooden boats fishing and sailing vessels coming & going...great to watch. Petite Piton (& it's hidden twin) magical, setting the mood. Flowers & hummingbirds. Fruit from their nearby plantation (ask for a tour). Historical family, this was the grandmother's house, and the family did run a Still.

Great location for independent travellers
The location is relaly fantastic. It is a guesthouse not a hotel- I think we over-estimated the level of service to expect. We hardly saw anyone, other than breakfast or lunchtime and even one day we came down and there was no breakfast. Certainly there is limited management- more cooks and housekeeping- so dont expect a front desk or readily availble advice on eating, tours etc. It was, however, off-peak and the place quiet. If you are looking for independency and have a car or know what you want to do and experience local culture, then the location is relaly fantastic with Soufriere offering some great places to eat and drink and very easy to mix with locals in some of the bars- some helped us with travel arrangements etc for really good deals.

Fabulous view of the Pitons but...
My colleague and I stayed at this hotel which on business in that part of St. Lucia. There was no light (blown bulb) outside my colleague's front door. After we checked in, it seems as though all staff had vacated the property. My room was okay but there was no soap in the bathroom. The bed was very high as such I almost needed a ladder to get up. Breakfast was included in the room but was served too late for a business traveler. The hotel is located a very far distance from the airport in Castries so transport would cost a lot.

Should have done more research before choosing this place. Definitely a great view but it has to be balanced versus this being a very quaint, quirky 5 room guest house. Met folks in rooms other rooms and each complained of poor hot water pressure during bathing. Ours was fine. One of the guests has been returning here for years. So they must like the place. Restaurant is managed by a nice woman who is the sibling of the guest house manager. Food is good. But the guests house folks were the only diners when we are there.

Good for the price
The best part about the still beach house is the location, view, price. I wasn't pleased with the staff, checking in was very mixed up and confusing. Every morning I was woken up at 6:45am - 7am by the noise the staff would make while cleaning the restaurant (right below our room). I get that they have a job to do, but they would very noisily drag chairs on the tile floor which create an annoying loud sound, this went on for a good half hour every morning. Shower was iffy, sometime it had hot water, other times it didn't. The toilet kept running, couldn't seem to stop it. Housekeeping came and went but the toilet still ran wasting water. We had one dinner at the restaurant, it was great. The continental breakfast (Fruit and toast) took a really long time. another morning ,the breakfast wasn't an option because they were setting up for a wedding, so they were going to shuttle all the guests over to the plantation(?) to have breakfast. but we had to wait for the driver and it would be another 10 minute drive to the plantation. All this for toast and fruit, no thanks. we went to the market and got muffins. Again if it wasn't for the location, view, and price I would have been more upset with the situation.

A little Gem in Souffriere
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Still Guest House. Our room / apartment had everything we needed from a full size fridge, oven/stove, micro, and plenty of pots and pans. Four poster bed was exceptionally comfortable; there was an additional single bed in the room; kitchen / dining/ living room had a futon couch, and large dining room table, but we generally ate outside on the patio. The highlight of our stay was the complementary plantation tour by the groundskeeper who taught us about all the many different fruits, cocoa trees, tamarind, coconuts as we had tastes of all. Ponds would be stocked with talapia and another with shrimp and then harvested when grown. Pigs were raised, chickens raised; horses still around from the days when they had horse back riding. A very old historic sugar mill was toured. We ended up at the plantation house that was owned by the Grandfather; the family had been gifted much land from King Louis 14th of France in appreciation of the mineral springs that the queen loved. We enjoyed the mineral springs and mud bathes at the Volcano site as well. We snorkeled just around the bend from our accommodations. The restaurant served yummy food (breakfast consisted of the plantations fruits and toast) with good service although we did mostly cook ourselves for economic and many personal dietary restriction reasons. We would recommend this resort as modest priced among many high end resorts in Souffriere.

Decent Place for a Night or Two with Great View
We stayed here for one night as we left the Soufriere area and headed north. The hotel boasts a stunning view from their porch. My favorite part of the stay was eating and drinking on the porch. Others have commented on the sketchiness of the beach that is just below the hotel's patio. We felt comfortable enough sitting on the beach and going for a swim but I can see why people would say that. It's not the kind of beach you'll want to spend the day sitting on, and yes, you might get a few offers from people selling services or goods. I can also see why one might say there is a lack of security. I felt mostly safe but you didn't get the sense that was any security or even staff around at night, and it's easy for people to wander onto the hotel porch from the beach. We did witness that but weren't too worried about it. The staff that we encountered was nice, and our room was spacious with a little kitchen area so you can cook if you want to. There were some small issues with the room, like the fan didn't work (although there was an AC) and the TV had an american plug but the outlet was Eastern Carribean. Bottom line, it's not fancy, but makes for a nice stopover for a night or even two. Even if you're not staying here, you should stop by for lunch. The food we had there was great. They don't serve dinner though, but you can go next door to the Hummingbird Resort for dinner.

A lot of potential, unfortunately neglected
There is no on-site management of the Beachhouse, so when we had issues with the water being turned off, there was no-one to speak to. We tried to go downstairs to the restaurant where we were given a meagre breakfast of a fruit plate, 3 pieces of toast and a single cup of coffee (more coffee was chargeable), but they pleaded ignorance and stated that the rooms and restaurant were two separate things and they did not know who to call. That's the reason you are required to pay upfront. Extremely disappointed and we left as soon as we could on the day of our departure for Anse Chastanet.

This is a small hotel with great view from the rooms outside porch For the price a nice place to stay. If you are looking for a white sand beach and big hotels luxuries this is not it for you. You may be the only one having breakfast or dinner in a large eating area and the food is adequate. The owners bend over backwards and are very nice. This is more like a bed and breakfast than a resort as we might think of in the US

Great villa for experiencing the true St. Lucia
This was our first trip to St. Lucia and we wanted to make sure that we stayed in a nice place but be near the local people to get a true feel of the island. Our wish surely came true. This is not a hoity-toity hotel that caters to the tourist that wants to stay onsite and get every need met. This place is nice, clean, very friendly with helpful staff. The beach is right there. The locals do swim with you but do not bother you. Petite Piton is right in front of you and all of the natural sites are in Soufriere. Many people come down from the Northern hotels and cruise ships for day excursions to this town. We went snorkeling, hiking, saw diamond falls, went to the Sulphur Springs, had a private tour on David's family's plantation, toured the entire island, and went swimming every day. We did not rent a car. Trevor picked us up and dropped us off at the airport and drove us around the island, Thomas was a great guide that took care of us everyday doing close-by excursions, we took a water taxi to go snorkeling. Talk to David about your plans and he will connect you with good people that will ensure you have a great experience without a huge cost. Breakfast was included every morning. We had a good breakfast with fresh fruit, great coffee and a smiling Kendra. Would definitely go back to the island and stay at the Still Beach House.

Poor impression of a hotel
Avoid Soufriere. There is nothing there. Read the hotels.com reviews CAREFULLY and read between the lines VERY CAREFULLY. You can choose better vacation destinations. Come to think of it, avoid St. Lucia all together. The situation may be different at exclusive resorts, but we spent some of our time driving around and the cultural immersion was disappointing. The hassle and cost of getting there is not justified.
