Great hotel, in a lovely location

Posted Jul 24, 2017
Pros: Furnishings, comfortable bed, friendly staff
Cons: Ful length dress mirrors in room. Iphone charger. Body lotion
Location: Old street, shoreditch and hoxton nearby. Holborn an easy walk, Oxford st by bus. Easy commute to paddington station and Heathrow within 40mins
I love this hotel. The beds are comfy, the location is great for the areas that are more off track as well as touristy. It's quiet and has aircon for those nights when you need it. The furnishings are beautiful and it's quaint. A great hotel for people who want a discreet beautiful place to stay tucked out of the way.

Excellent service in a lovely old English setting

Posted Jul 5, 2017
Pros: Service was exquisite! Mark the night manager was endlessly patient, cheery and unobstrusive with guests who were enjoying the sitting room at night.
Cons: The old-school bathtub and no standing shower might not to be everyone's liking.
Location: Located a stone's throw away from Farringdon station, the location is convenient while being a relatively quiet spot in the middle of central London.
Lovely and well-appointed boutique hotel that has all the old world charm you would expect from the pictures. The limitations of the old building (no elevator, dim interior, etc.) are more than adequately addressed by the thoughtful staff who always offered help, and went beyond in most situations to accomodate any additional requests. The presence of an 'Honesty Bar', where guests could help ourselves to a liquor and cocktail cabinet and simply write our purchases down in a book by the bar, perfectly demonstrates the attitude with which the Rookery treats it guests - you feel like friends of the generous hosts, not hotel guests.

Unique character and woderful staff

A beautiful and unique property, very comfortable, like visiting someone at a county estate. But the highlight is the staff. So friendly, efficient, accommodating... Really a lovely stay.

Tons of character!

Hotel is very quirky and quaint and the front desk staff are lovely. I did not love the area however - it got noisy at night especially - and my room only had a bath, no shower.

Quirky Rookery ticks (almost) all the boxes

Posted Apr 25, 2017 on Hotels
Loved this hotel - quirky and interesting; great location with for getting around London (Farringdon tube round the corner) but being away from the "obvious" west end. Good restaurants, coffee bars and pubs within easy walking distance - try Polpo for fab Italian-style tapas and good wine; Smiths of Smithfield for breakfast/lunch; the Hope pub for delicious pie and mash! Only minor quibble with hotel would be the lack of standalone shower in our room - handheld shower over bath-tub - in fitting with the style of the room but a bit of a pain to use. But not a major issue at all - the great staff and lovely bar area more than make up for it - and we will definitely stay there again.
