Nice and affordable beach resort
Posted Feb 21, 2017
The resort is situated at the north end of Dawn Beach, steps from white sand and clear blue/turquoise water. The compound is very well maintained, and is very quiet (we've only seen mature and senior couples, no noisy kids running around or party goers). After dark, it seems that everyone retires in their rooms to watch TV.
The room we had (#2130) was very simple, but very well appointed: large oceanfront studio with kitchenette and breathtaking views of the Oyster Bay. We were extremely surprised how fully equipped the kitchenette was! The only thing missing was an oven, in rest it had everything (including dishwasher and big fridge with ice maker in the freezer). Plenty of pots and pans, cutlery, dinnerware, detergent etc.; we were very pleased! And the tap water is safe to drink!
On the negative side, there were a few things: the water pressure was very low, and you had to wait a long time for it to run warm and/or hot. The shower lacked a hand shower - very difficult to properly wash your body, especially with the pressure so low. And this is surprising considering the island is practically "European". Also, Wi-Fi in the room is only available if you purchase a daily or weekly package from a third party. We ended up buying a weekly pass but we had problems in the first 24 hours with a glitch in the system. However, we addressed the issue with the front desk and it was resolved.
Get a car! The location gives you plenty of choices to visit the island. We'd go back anytime!
