"Impressive hotel still undergoing refurbishment"
I booked the Salini Resort for a business visit to Malta, as my wife was accompanying me for a few days rest. Nice location, with a minibus service to Bugibba, and obviously excellent new facilities for business meetings, conferences etc. Hotel access from splendid new coast road very straightforward. Plenty of reception space & visitor areas, bar, recreation facilities (2 excellent-looking outdoor pools), nice view of the sea, courteous and friendly staff, efficient accounting & checkin/checkout. However, at the time of our visit, only cafeteria-style restaurant facililities (food fresh, tasty, lots of variety, and plentiful, very efficient table waiting staff, wine with evening meal). Refurbishment work at 'snagging' stage, eg various bits of wall finishing, a few room doors obviously being re-installed. Expected free in-room plug-in Internet, but only paid WiFi available - good connection, though. Free WiFi in reception areas. TV free channels very limited, lots of pay-to-view stuff.
We will stay again when returning to Malta.
Bugibba/StPauls Bay area pleasant, good restaurants etc. A friend who used to holiday in Malta in 1970s recalled that 'salini' meant 'salt pans', and an unpleasant smell, but those days are gone, and we like Malta and the Maltese very much. Lots of interesting historic stuff in a very small space, traffic a bit frantic at times around Valetta.
