Pretty hotel with nice clean beach

Hotel and staff very nice. Room was extremely small for 2 adults and 2 small children. The bathroom was so tiny it was hard to have more than one person in it at a time. And as expected the food was terribly over priced and mediocre at best. The beach in front of The Don was by far the cleanest and nicest beach in the area.

This was my 4th stay at the Don

Hotel was awesome as usual but service was not as consistent as times past. Found staff to be either of the highest quality or mediocre. Our room cleaning service missed us a couple days out of the week when we were gone most of the day. The hotel would still be a 5 ⭐️ if the team was cohesive with a we are the best mentality. I understand how difficult staffing can be as I was in the high end service industry for 20+ years. We loved our stay and could only compare it to past levels of service.

Beds too small and dirty bedding

Not worth the money

Older hotel right on St. Pete's beach. Clean enough but needs some updating. $300 a night during off season is excessive but someone suggested we stay there so we did. Spa was good but included 28% tip and didn't tell us about this before hand. I'm sure it was written somewhere but they should tell you that. I would have given an awesome tip but having it done like that really seemed sneaky. They charged for parking which also seemed excessive. It was okay but I wouldn't stay there again nor recommend it to anyone.

Great history, great beach, hit or miss staff

Stayed here because I was looking for a new location in Florida I had never been before. The hotel has a great background and history which was really cool. Even though the weather was hot and stagnant, the beach was very clean and the chairs were plenty. The only negative thing I have to say was that the staff was not always very warm and welcoming, especially at the Sea Porch restaurant in the hotel. Multiple times the hostesses looked at my mom and I like we didn't belong and gave us a weird attitude. We were asked multiple times if we were even guests at the hotel, even though we clearly had our pink wrist bands. At times, I felt that the staff knew we weren't high rollers and treated us as such, which kind of sucks when you spend a lot of money to get nothing but the best of service. Having said all this, the front desk, concierge, spa staff, and bellman were all very pleasant. Overall I would recommend but next time I will stay in a room facing the water.

Perfectly seated on a beach of powdery white sand Sunsets to remember and a dining experience that cannot be beat. Can't wait to go back!

Nice, but needing help.

My family and extended family have been staying at this hotel for many years. As I have traveled more, I have learned to expect more from $300 a night hotels, especially from an Expedia VIP hotel. While there are some wonderful things about the location, there were many details that made this trip disappointing. I reserved 4 rooms for my family and my extended family. I had called in advance to request early check-in, as I was traveling with my elderly mother and children. I ended up spending most of my first day going back and forth to check-in to see if rooms were ready. At 4:00 pm, after watching dozens of people check-in all day ahead of me, two of my rooms were still not ready. I was not recognized as a +gold VIP at anytime, and some of the front desk staff did not even know what a VIP was, or even that their hotel was a VIP member. The staff all over the hotel needs intensive customer service training. The hotel needs millions of dollars in renovations, which I understand are in the plans. Hallways, wood work, door jambs, tub and showers, etc. were in terrible condition. The beach is managed by a private company, so expect to drop a lot of cash if you want to lay at the beach on something other than a towel. The rooms are very small. The rooms have refrigerators, but that will cost you an extra $33 a day!!! On a good note, the weekend jazz band in the lobby from 8-midnight is wonderful. If you sit around the pool at a table for lunch, ask for Dean!

FANTASTIC!

Location: Beautiful sunsets and beaches and many restaurants nearby.
We enjoyed our stay at The Don very much. Staff was extremely nice. The beach and pool were our favorite along with the gorgeous hotel itself. We will definitely stay again in the future.
