Decent accommodations at a great location

Posted Apr 6, 2016
Pros: Location was fantastic. Easy walking to plenty of restaurants and right across from the beach.
Cons: Water pressure seemed a little lacking on the top floor.
Location: Go to the beach! Wait for a great sunset. Had some good pizza at Gondolier Pizza Italian Restaurant - like a 5-10 minute walk.
Based upon its location and my preconceived notions, I thought that this would be somewhat a "spring breakers only" sort of place to stay. But I was pleasantly surprised. It was somewhat dated inside, but fairly well kept.

The bed pillows needed to be up upgraded that was my only issue. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room rate for the location was great. I would stay here again

Clearwater Beach Motel

Posted Mar 23, 2016 on Hotels
The people in the office were very nice however, the motel is old and the rooms haven't been updated for many years. There is no smoking in the rooms but the office reeks of stale smoke. It probably needs to be remodeled to get that smell out. The room was clean. The bathroom was very small and the sink was stand alone with no vanity so it was tough to find a place to put your things. Again, the bathrooms need to be remodeled. My TV did not work but that didn't really bother me much as I wasn't in the room very long. The A/C unit was very old and loud all night. There are windows under the curtains so the light is constant and there is no way to keep it out at night. Same with the bathroom window. It had a lace curtain and no way to keep the light out. There was a coffee maker with a package of coffee. No sugar, no cream, no stirrers. The door to your room opens out and there is only a key to the handle lock. There is a top lock but you can only use that when you're in the room. It's disconcerting to leave a computer in a room like that. It's a beach place but at $165/night I expected more. I have since checked room rates along Gulfview Blvd. and found much newer properties with lower rates. Sorry :(

Classic Clearwater Beach Hotel

Posted Mar 16, 2016 on Hotels
The hotel is a throwback to the old Florida hotels that used to dominate Clearwater Beach. The big chains are moving in and these gems of hotels are starting to disappear. Just across the street from the beach this hotel, though dated, is charming, the hotel is built at a slight angle so there is a great view of the beach and sunsets from balcony/walkway on the southside of the hotel. The staff is very friendly and there always seems to be a treat in the office for guests. There is a "take a book, leave a book" library and there are some beach toys available in the same area left by previous guests. While the decor in the rooms is a little outdated, it adds to that old hotel charm, the rooms are clean and large.

Blast from the Past

Posted Mar 14, 2016
You won't get any closer to the beach! Just a short walk to the pier. This is an oldie but a goody. For my purposes it was better than the big dollar, big box hotels, but it's straight forward with no frills.

Nice, affordable and convenient near the beach.

Posted Mar 7, 2016
Pros: Affordable and near the beach
Location: Near beach, bars and restaurants
We had everything we wanted and needed in this hotel. It was clean, affordable and near the beach. The kitchenette is a plus. We would definitely go back!

The hotel was clean, staff super friendly, informative, and he even carried my bag up to 2nd floor room. Great location across from beach, and nearby restaurants and shopping.

Just cross the street you are at beach. K.C in office knows all attractions and restaurants close by. Thanks K.C.
