This is a difficult review. First, the staff was excellent. They went out of he way to be helpful. BUT, the hotel itself is shabby. The room was small, the bathroom was very small. No elevator. One of the staffers took our luggage up two flights of narrow, steep stairs, and I (age 73) carried it all down when we left. In the room, there was nowhere to unpack clothes, no dresser, no closet.
The location of the hotel on 2nd Ave is great (we highly recommend the Craft Kafe for breakfast and coffee) and is close to several museums, lots of restaurants and The Pier.
One additional warning: there is major construction going on as the hotel is building a new wing, so by 7 a.m. or so you can expect noise.
Because the staff was so good, we would consider staying there again once the new wing comes online.
