Very Good Choice

Posted Aug 27, 2015
Very satisfied with our stay: everything was good starting with comfortable accommodations, balcony with Bay and partial beach views, nice menu, views and music at Bongos beachfront restaurant, and great views and experience at Spinners revolving restaurant and last but not least the beautiful beach and outstanding attentive staff. Grand Plaza Beachfront has a very nice retro style and we were very happy with our choice. Only negative are the hallway carpets....they really need to be replaced. Otherwise we look forward to a future stay at The Grand Plaza Beachfront, St Pete.

had a great vacation there most of the time room was cleaned. one day though they move me to a different room and when I flip my pillow on the bed it had spaghetti sauce or blood all over it. they said they would tell the housekeeping supervisor. the food at bongos was really great. saw the beautiful sunsets from my beachfront room.

Nice hotel, right on the beach. Great beach bar.

Posted Aug 23, 2015
This is a nice hotel with good size rooms and great staff. Location is great, right on the beach and close to several restaurants and shops. Parking is free and ample. Bongos beach bar is great, good food and great atmosphere with live music daily. Only downside is that the pool is way too small and too deep, especially for smaller children. This wouldn't normally be a major problem with the beach being so close, but when we were there there were stingrays and jellyfish in the Gulf, so swimming in the sea didn't feel completely safe with the kids. You have to pay for cabanas on the beach, and these don't provide adequate shade, but this is the same for all hotels on this beach. A better pool area with more sun loungers and more shade would have solved this problem. Overall though we had a great stay and would recommend for a short trip. If you have a car we highly recommend the short trip to Fort Desoto national park just to the south. The North beach here is one of the best beaches we've ever been to. White sand, warm water, and we saw wild dolphins and manatees. If you want to go to the revolving restaurant on the roof of the hotel, it's excellent, but book early as most people book for sunset which is spectacular. TLDR; nice hotel, free parking, great location, small pool. Enjoy!

Great beachfront hotel novel revolving restaurant

Posted Aug 19, 2015
We stayed here for one night as a treat and change from Disney. We thought St Petes beach was wonderful and the hotel stylish and it's beachfront location just brilliant. We dined in the hotel's rooftop, rotating restaurant. The view was stunning looking out along the beaches and then back into the bay. We all are steak which were very tender and tasty. There was a fun bar on the beach front playing live music in early evening. The room was well furnished, clean and comfortable but compact. For economy we crammed 4 into it which worked for us for one night but we wouldn't have wanted to do more than a weekend. The staff were all very friendly. When we were there, on a Saturday, both the hotel and restaurant were full, so I would recommend booking both to avoid the risk disappointment. In summary: We loved St Petes and our stay in this hotel. We would love to come back but as we're from the U.K. it won't be anytime soon! We thank everyone involved for making our stay so relaxing and wonderful. Neil

Nice but...

Posted Aug 19, 2015
Cons: wireless internet was dismal, in today's modern world the service kept dropping out and was woefully slow. I get better internet in Africa hotels
Hotel was basically fine, we had a bad experience at the Spinners restaurant with a meal that was not up to standards and was returned. The internet connectivity was well below NA standards, I have had better internet service in Nigeria hotels. Location was great and the room was in good.
