rude and unhelpful front desk staff

Posted Oct 7, 2016
Location: Bars are down by roundabout - a mile or so north. Don't go south like the front desk staff told me - no body there. Ghost town walking south.
First impressions last. First impression is that there is Valet Parking only. No other choice. Did not like that. Worse was the rude, indifferent front desk man with beard and glasses that instead of simply adding a smile and say please or anything respectful like that, snorts out requests for verification that I've booked. No info whatsoever about hotel or surroundings were bothered to be given. Turned out that I had booked for yesterday by error (stressed by the storm I guess) and I had no room for today and I had to live with having paid for a room that I did not use. I was offered the only room left for $250. $100 more than the room I booked for night before by error. I took it,. But I was not told it was a suite until I came up there. Nice view indeed over ocean. Older worn out room.

Hotel itself was nice BUT NO BEACH

Posted Sep 18, 2016
Pros: Clean
Cons: Add a BEACH so the guests get what they pay for
Location: No beach so bad location
We arrived only to discover that valet parking was required so access to our vehicle wasn't anytime we needed unless the valet went to get it. Sorry, I don't like anyone in my car but family. When we checked in we were informed that there was a $12 per day fee for valet parking .... WHAT ?????? oh well, they got us again. Then when we asked which way was to the beach we found out that the Holiday Inn and Resort on the Beach DIDN'T HAVE A BEACH ............. YEP its true NO BEACH. We had to trek about 4 blocks lugging chairs etc. to the public beach {which was a nice beach} around lots of closed sidewalks due to construction, BUT WE PAID for a private beach and there was none. Needless to say our vacation wasn't what we expected at all. If you are looking for a beach then don't stay at this hotel.

Great location and clean hotel. Staff was friendly but very strict near pool, we were yelled at for having a water bottle near the pool.

Great location.

Posted Aug 15, 2016
Pros: The friendly staff, and location.
Cons: The room was a bit too cold.
Location: I was happy with the location. I was a brief walk from anything I needed or wanted.
I enjoyed my stay. I think the location offers the best of both worlds. IT was a block away from the beach, but close enough for a pleasant walk to all the major happenings, as well as the beach. The service was great, the staff could not have been nicer.

Overpriced and disgusting!!!!! Old hotel!!!

Posted Aug 9, 2016
This hotel need renovating or gutted out. The room set up is okay, but it was hot and humid. And with a high humidity I am almost positive there is mold growing somewhere. Our room had roaches and bugs in the bathroom (dead and alive).. Once we attempted to kill them they scattered to under the toilet.. It felt so nasty, I was afraid to pull the covers back to see if there were bed bugs. The staff was very friendly and understanding. The restaurant staff was great as well. The pool is nice and has a great scenery, the room just did it for us, and I'm not the picky type. So once we complained about our room, they changed us to a different room. Once we got in that room there were more bugs and gnats flying over my head. By that time we were over it!! So they front desk cancelled our rooms but caused another hold on our account. The next day was Sunday so if it weren't for my friend to miraculously have another usable card to another hotel.. We would be stuck without money because of the hold that could not be taken off immediately. Anyways, we got to a much better hotel (Marriott Sand Key) and it was cheaper, bigger, and MUCH cleaner and nicer!! AND we had views of the ocean. However, once we called back to Holiday Inn, the manager made a call to my bank and got my funds released immediately. The staff at this hotel was awesome, the hotel itself was just disgusting and too pricey and I would not recommended it at all.

We had a pool side room looking out at the beach. It was our wedding anniversary! When we checked in & told them that we were celebrating 61 yrs. they gave us 2 drink tickets. We have been coming to Clearwater Beach since our move to the Villages in 1998 & bring our family every time they visit. First time at your hotel. It was wonderful!
