Renovated but not worth the price

Posted Nov 20, 2016
The hotel has been renovated but the bed mattress was horrible, the A/C knob was broken, and we had a mixed bag with the reception staff. The parking garage is under construction so difficult to park and get to the hotel. The location was ideal for our purpose though since it's proximity to Janus Live was very close.

Perfect Location for Enjoying Cultural Amenities

Posted Nov 18, 2016
Pros: Its unique character and unbeatable location. Che, the downstairs bar, was fun and cozy.
Cons: Although the bathroom was spotlessly clean, it was lacking in ventilation. The small window did not open, and there was no fan.
Location: As noted above, the Mahaffey Theater and Dali Museum are within walking distance, as is the Tampa Bay Rowdies (soccer) stadium. Lots of restaurants!
I chose this hotel for its proximity to the Mahaffey Theater, where I was attending a concert, and because it looked more "interesting" than yet another chain hotel. Although I only spent one night, my experience was quite enjoyable. Check-in was FAST, and I was given a quiet corner room on the 6th floor. There were windows on two sides, which was nice. The aged hardwood flooring was beautiful. The room was very clean, and equipped with basic amenities (TV, coffee maker, fridge, etc.) The decor throughout the hotel is a bit "funky" --- a mix of contemporary meets old Florida hotel charm. The front desk staff suggested street parking for my short stay, and explained what time periods were free. They also offered some restaurant suggestions. The hotel's location is perfect for exploring shops and restaurants along Beach Drive, and both the Mahaffey Theater and Dali Museum are within easy and enjoyable walking distance. After the concert, the hotel's lower level bar, Che, offered late dining and cocktail options in a cool, relaxed setting. Overall, I felt as if I had spent the night in the somewhat quirky guest room at a friend's house. Clean, comfortable, and plenty of character. I would definitely return to this unique hotel.

Very disappointed

Posted Nov 5, 2016
There is no parking, remodel was cheaply done, area is noisy, and check in person was blase and not really interested in helping us or making us feeli welcome at all.

Location, Location

Posted Nov 2, 2016
Pros: Location.
Cons: Bathroom size.
Location: Museums, restaurants, Bars, very nice movie theater at the Sundial center. Everything is within walking distance. Dog friendly area.
It is centrally located. Can walk to museums & restaurants. Rooms & bathrooms were clean, rooms need to be upgraded, bathrooms are extremely small. If you're looking for a reasonably price hotel for the weekend and you don't mind size of room.

Small room

Posted Oct 24, 2016
Location: Great for downtown walking. Super close to nightlife and museums.
I knew booking the room that it was small. I just didn't realize how small. The queen size bed was in the middle of the room which you had to squeeze by to get to the bathroom. There was a medium size roach in the shower curtain that once I smashed went down the drain. The AC unit, we had to take a knob off to use on wither piece to crank the AC higher bc it was warm in the room. The elevator took so long to get to the second floor where the ice machine is located, that I started to think I got stuck in between the first and 2nd floor. You can definitely tell the hotel is old. The upside to it, is that it is downtown and in walking distance to everything. I would reconsider staying here again if not much else was available...like this time.

Better in pictures...

Posted Oct 13, 2016
Location: Excellent location to all activities in the area. You can walk to all the restaurants and nightlife. The bay is just a block away.
It needs a refreshing internal renovation. With that, this would be an ideal place to stay. The location is fantastic and the exterior shows well. It is clean and cozy- but needs updating inside!

OLD HOTEL, NO PARKING CLOSE TO HOTEL!

Posted Oct 13, 2016
Pros: Had availability during hurricane.
Location: Excellent location, no parking.
Old hotel needs updating. I appears like they attempted to but failed. Hotel has NO PARKING AREA. Absolutely no parking anywhere close to hotel. Costs you 7 dollars parking garage fee every time you wanted to take a drive. Moldy smell in hallways. Room doors have an inch space open underneath so you could hear everything going on in the room from hallway.

disappointment

Posted Oct 3, 2016
Pros: location
Cons: furniture and furnishings overhaul, from the current decade.
Location: I did not stay-felt dirty upon entering lobby, especially the room. Charged me $25 for 'early checkout.'
Pictures on internet do not accurately paint a picture of this hotel room. I was dingy, small, cramped, antiquated amenities, furnishings.
