The good: Very awesome location. Not exactly in the middle of everything but thats a good thing because then you wouldn't be right across from access to watching the sun rise. Numerous restaurants within walking distance along with bars, museums, parks, etc. The bad: With the location being where it is, it is a little on tge noisy side. I don't think its as bad as some of the others are saying but for a Wednesday and Thursday night it had its moments. Parking was a pain. They valet but I've never been a fan of valet parking and that leaves metered parking from 9am-10pm or a parking garage about a 10 minute walk away. Either way you're paying at least $20 a day to park if you walk/use public transportation. The "kinda picky" things: While the tile outside looks nice, its not the greatest for flip flops and rain, and it rained on Wednesday, a lot. A little slippery in areas. The bed was comfortable but the sheet kept popping off and the crinkly(assuming protective leak guard) layer under the sheet was kind of annoying. I get the purpose of it, just pointing it out. No mini fridge. Would be nice to have some cold waters/drinks.

The hotel and staff are amazing. Rooms large and comfy. My only minor complaints are: 1) Parking is by valet, which is inconvenient if someone not at front desk when you want to leave. We might have waited 10-15 minute at most so not a huge deal after first miss of human to fetch our car we built in extra timeto get our car. 2) Dinner. We decided to dine at the hotel on the patio for our last meal before heading home. I ordered the expensive steak, blue rare and their "advertised 1 lb baked potato" - extra cost for any side. The steak arrived on its on on the plate. Naked slab of beef. No grill marks. It was grey in color as if done in the microwave. Baked potato was ordinary. Very disappointing. On its own also. 3) The rooms have no mini refrigerator, despite their large size. I asked if we could get one and was told that they were all in use and if one came free, we would get it. Never happened in the 3 nights we spent at the hotel. Only saving grace was the staff at the bar on the main floor was very amenable to givng us ice buckets full of ice for the wine and proseco in our room. A minor inconvenience but hats off to the bartenders. Otherwise we loved the stay at the Birchwood and will be back next year for Blue Jays Spring Training. Thank you to the terrific staff.

Love the Birchwood. Good Bar, Good food, Good location, Good staff ... they just need an extra staffer around the front desk ... be back this weekend

A great stay
A great boutique hotel in the heart of downtown St. Pete. Enjoyed drinks at their roof top bar with beautiful views of the water. Very comfortable bed and good breakfast. Toilets needs a few extra flushes but in these vintage hotels these things happen.

The Restaurant on site had very poor staff. Two members of our party asked to split an entree and the waiter stated that it was not a problem. It was delivered on one plate. When asked for a separate plate, the waiter ignored the request. We then asked the floor manager that came by for an extra empty plate and he ignored our request twice.

Great area of mostly historic hotels. This one has an amazing rooftop bar. I had a hard time getting hot water to the bathroom. It took like 15 minutes to warm up. Otherwise great stay.

The room was very comfortable with a huge, beautiful bathroom. The staff was very friendly and and accommodating. Valet parking was extremely convenient. The hotel is in a beautiful area as well. My only complaint is that it is very loud at night. The nightlife in the weekend was so loud, it made it difficult to sleep until very late at night.

Great but dated hotel
While I love this hotel, the location is great, the staff is wonderful… the rooms are very dated and I desperate need of a refresh. The rooms and bathrooms are very large but they are also very old and dated. If they were updated I would give this hotel an A+++

I did not liked the lack of awareness and communication among hotel staff. For example, no communication between them about whenever a fire alarm emergency sounds on, none is aware of the reason, even a day later from the event, making it hard for us the hotel guests to trust the security measures while still wondering what happened. Also it is not clear that most of the room windows are facing inwards, specially to the hallway were the outside elevators are, no privacy and had to shut down the curtains making my room more darker suffocating. I would suggest placing a decorative plants in the elevators hallways to provide more privacy to room guests.

Hi Liajay, thank you for your review and for sharing your concerns with us. I apologize if you felt there was a lack of communication regarding the fire alarm going off but of course our top priority during those events is simply evacuating the building (guests and staff alike) as fast as possible. Nobody could be aware of the reason the alarm is triggered at the time of the apparent emergency and the full cause was not discovered until 24 hours later (during which time our staff were conducting full building sweeps every 30 minutes in accordance with Fire Watch Procedures). Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during that issue.

This is a beautiful property. It’s really cool how they made it seem totally in character of it’s historic nature if the hotel. The rooms are definitely historic looking, but clean and updated in the bathroom has the most amazing call clawfoot bathtub. So if you’re in the baths, bring some Epson salt to soak. They do have a bath gel in the room though also for you.. It’s very convenient to the pier all the restaurants and it’s totally walkable to everything. It’s in a great location for sure. They have a really nice rooftop bar that’s open till 2 AM. It’s got a beautiful view and great ambience. And a really nice place to hang out. I will say though you can hear all the music in the rooms so if you’re looking for totally totally quiet room, probably stay on a lower level. We will be back for sure.

Room was very nice. However it was very noisy due to the fact that all the rooms are backing a walkway from the rooftop bar. Also they advertise a complimentary breakfast until 10AM. We came down by 9:30 there was no coffee left in the urn, not much of anything and nobody around to remedy the situation.

Hi Peter, thank you for sharing your concerns. As a boutique downtown hotel with a rooftop bar we can be noisier than some properties, the historic nature and protected status of the building make it difficult to add noise reducing elements other properties may employ. Hopefully this did not spoil your stay with us. Regarding breakfast, our front desk staff on responsible for attending the complimentary buffet style breakfast but also for running the front desk, I apologize for the apparent lack of attention but I can assure you we do our best to keep breakfast well stocked from open at 7am until it ends at 10am.

Hi Kelvin, while we do charge for parking it is less than most hotels in the area charge for valet service. I will admit downtown parking can be a hassle, unfortunately real estate is hard to come by and we rely on street parking for loading and unloading. We do our best to communicate our parking situation to guests in our confirmations and pre-stay messaging, hopefully you are willing to return. Thanks!

Boutique hotel, best downtown location
Spent a weekend at the BandV. Lovely hotel , fantastic location with valet parking, a plus. The hotel offers inside lounge, cozy, and nicely appointed dining room, with rooftop canopy bar, great views, and included breakfast with variety to choose from.

Loud music from events reaches every room. When I contacted front desk for a change of room, that’s what I was told. The music was unreasonably loud. They have a rooftop bar as well and that music goes on until midnight on weekdays and 2 am weekends.

Great location, needs updating
I spent 3 nights here and it’s a beautiful place and a great location. But, the rooms need to be updated, and if you’re looking for a quiet getaway, this might not be your place. It gets very loud but that didn’t bother me. They have valet, which is extra per day. But on the weekends it’s a little crazy because of a different valet, they don’t want you to park in front of the hotel for the hotels valet… but besides that it was a great stay and loved the location
