Good location: not far from historical center, right near metro, close to Moskovsky train central. Very friendly staff. Nice renovated rooms, relatively big.

Good location good rooms and great breakfast

Posted Dec 17, 2013
Pros: Comfortable, warm (went in December and rooms well heated all the time) and good location. All staff spoke some english and all very helpful.
Location: Excellent italian restaurant Makaroni very close by in parallel street. Perfectly walkable to and from Hermitage or take bus 11 to top of Nevsky Pr
Really lovely stay at this centrally located comfortable hotel. Breakfast was great and rooms very good stayed on 3rd floor and very comfortable, road a bit noisy but only to be expected from very central location. Breakfast great but do not recommend hotel restaurant otherwise. The top floor rooms are not recommended but rest very good indeed.

Good location and very helpful staff

Posted Dec 17, 2013
This hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of many of St Petersburg's attractions. It is very well heated which was appreciated in the bitter cold of a December visit. The breakfast is good and is enough to last you until evening which saves time and money. I would recommend booking a superior room if you can afford it. The rooms on the 5th and 6th floors (with no lift) are smaller and the stairwell in this part of the hotel is depressing partly because it is a fire escape. The Aston would be well advised to spend some money on the common parts on the 5th and 6th floors to make them more attractive. The cleaning products used in the hotel are very perfumed and in the end I found it necessary to put a Don't disturb notice on the door handle to prevent more perfume in my room. The bar has no bar food and service in the restaurant is very slow and overpriced. There is also constant piped music in this room and an overpowering television. However, overall this hotel was a pleasant surprise and I would recommend it. The staff were particularly helpful and cheerful.

Small hotel/room, close to the Main Street in st.p

Posted Jun 30, 2013
Pros: Location
Location: 10-15 mins walk to the train station to Moscow. 25-30 mins walk to the Winter Palace ( a very nice walk). Can take a river cruise nearby.
Stayed there in end of June. Room is clean, functional, but very small. Expansive compared to Moscow, in the white night season.

Not really 4*

Posted Jun 9, 2013
Pros: Nothing!
Cons: The TV menu!
Location: Ok
This hotel doesn't deserve a 4* rating in my view. The TV only has Russian channels on it!

Nice plain hotel, very good staff

Posted Apr 15, 2013
By Russian standards, is is a very nice hotel. By American standards this would be like staying at an aged (but decent) mid priced hotel. The hotel is a little aged, but it is well kept. The staff speaks good English, and is very helpful. The restaurant has good food, they offer a 20% discount to guests if the hotel for table service at the restaurant (NOT for room service). Wine and beer in the restaurant is very expensive, buy it on the street and enjoy it in your room. There is a handy ATM located in the hotel lobby. E location is. Good, about 1.5 miles to the Hermitage and St. Isaac's, not a bad walk on a nice day because you will pass most of the other big attractions. The hotel is just a few yards off Nevsky Prospect, turn to e left on Nevsky and you will find e city's best historical attractions, turn to e right and you will find the best shopping ( all the major Italian and French designers are there, very expensive and nice).

Hotel Aston St Petersburg

Posted May 3, 2012
Pros: Clean and comfortable rooms, and very good breakfast.
Cons: Reception staff when we arrived, not very helpful and had to wait 45mins for our rooms, even though we arrived well after the 14.00 check in time.
Location: Very good right in the middle of all the sites of St Petersburg
Hotel was very good and clean, reception staff when we arrived was not very helpful, Breakfast was very good and staff were very good. Hotel location was spot on. Would go back again. We all enjoyed our stay.
