Nice complex for family reunion of 26.

Posted Nov 6, 2017
Pros: Laid back, right on the beach and just a mile from the main downtown area. Serving some meals to group, a good grocery store was a few miles away.
Cons: An electrical outlet by one bath sink was inoperative.
Location: Main town with lots of shops and restaurants was merely a mile away. There were three trolley tours offered daily during our stay.
Several had rented 3 bedroom suites which were large enough to host daily gatherings for drinks, full breakfasts and even one picnic dinner. The fireplace area in main lobby was a great gathering place for after dinner, with entertainment one evening... Everyone I talked with on the subject agreed we would go back there for some future gathering. We even had folks fly into Jacksonville, FL, from San Francisco, Cleveland, and Washington DC. Not a problem - an hour’s drive by rental car,.

Absolutely Wonderful!

Posted Aug 25, 2017
Pros: Beauty of the hotel, pool, beach area and the convenience of the restaurant. The ease of checking in, parking and getting around the town.
Location: Beach side, trolley tour, pier, lighthouse, quaint down town for shopping, many restaurants, beautiful golf courses, etc.
My husband and I loved this hotel. Not your average beachside hotel or condo - this hotel is very upscale - it is beautiful! Easy check in, parking and easy to get around the town. Went in the middle of August after school had started so no waiting in line for food. An abundance of restaurants to choose from. The hotel restaurant had good food and was very convenient as well as the pool snack bar. Crabdaddy's down the street was my favorite! Walked to the beach everyday, took trolley tour and visited the pier, lighthouse and historical church as well as shopping and getting ice cream in the quaint downtown area each night. If you are wanting a beautiful, quaint town to visit, I would recommend going to St. Simons Island and staying at the King and Prince hotel. You'll love it!

It sounds like you were able to get out and really explore the island. It is truly such a special place with so many shopping, dining and historical sites to see. The trolley is a wonderful to learn about the history of the area and visit some favorite local spots. We hope that you will hurry back for another visit.

Horrible Customer Experience...Save Your Money

Posted Aug 14, 2017
Pros: History, location.
Cons: Clean exterior. Train staff/management to understand that they are part of a "customer experience continuum," not just in charge of their one area.
Location: Great downtown. Check out the Argentinean Restaurant. Stay at the Westin-Jekyll Island--good customer experience with comparable location.
My wife & I spent our honeymoon at the King & Prince 22 years ago; we were excited to return. Paid top dollar for an oceanfront room. It went down from the check in. We arrived at 4 PM & decided to grab a drink at the bar. Bar tender was impatient & cold. It was clear he was distracted & I was that distraction. Not deterred...we decided to see the hostess for an early dinner at Echo. After she sat us outside, we waited 20 minutes & no one came. No one. So we decided to leave & ask for the manager...after passing through at least a half-dozen staff members who were doing NOTHING. The Echo Manager's primary effort was to explain how their failure was actually MY fault. We came to a resolution...sorta. They agreed to comp us a room service in the future, although that is NOT what we wanted. 2 days later, after a day at the beach, we returned to our room at 5 PM and found the room cleaned...EXCEPT for the dirty tray from the previous night's room service still in the room. We called for housekeeping & they never came. The exterior: Bugs. Trash. Cobwebs. Interior: stained carpet, furniture & ceiling. We saw shortcoming after shortcoming. Many more...space is limited. Customer experience is horrible. Indifferent management...comps are NOT the only way to resolve customer issues. Save your money. Nice facility...incredible history. The staff needs training. Breaks my heart, but they will never see me there again. Recommend you look at the Westin on Jekyll Island.

Dear Mark, We are very sorry that your experience was marred by these unacceptable issues. We have implemented new and extensive training in our Food and Beverage areas to address these type situations. We are very sorry that our only recourse of comping room service and addressing through management apologies was insufficient to rectify your overall impression of our service and facility. We have taken your comments to heart and thank you for sharing with us so that we can continually improve. Again, we hope you can accept our sincere apologies and that you can give us another chance in the future. Please feel free to contact us directly should you have any further insights that may be helpful.

Far beyond expectations

Beautiful, historic setting. Walking distance to fine dining and a short Uber ride to more options (pool bar was fabulous ,so no driving). It will be a go-to place for next year.

Thank you so much for this excellent rating and kind words. You have quite accurately depicted some of the best parts of our historic hotel. The beach front venue, along with great dining on property at ECHO with entertainment and al fresco dining as well. Thank you again and we hope you don't have to wait a whole year to come back to see us.

Pros: This hotel is right on the beach. That makes up for the age of the hotel. It is old and still has the old traditional decor. It is not modern.
Cons: If they upgraded all the rooms to a more modern style this hotel would be five stars. It was the five star back in the 50s.
Location: St. Simon's Island is a beautiful place and so family friendly. There were lots of families with children on this island. A fun town center.
relaxing, beautiful view from hotel room. Right on the beach.

Only 1 night but had a great time, no problems or concerns. We enjoyed the swings overlooking the ocean. All the employees were helpful and friendly. We will be back.
