The Resort itself was pretty nice, beach was wonderful the bar and restaurants on site were wonderful, the beach is beautiful. The negatives were the unit itself was way below satisfactory levels. Unit was musty, rusty and very much outdated. The view was that of resort was that of beach lounger storage. Overall, we felt ripped off and hope this review will prevent someone else from feeling the same way. Stay away from unit A one hundred and one at Sapphire Beach Resort.

We are sorry you were disappointed, but the dissatisfaction started at the front desk during check-in, prior to going to the unit, when we clarified an expectation that Sapphire Beach is an all-inclusive resort, which it is not.

The location is superb. However, the hotel is in major need of updating. We were there in 2005; no updates have been made since then--except a pad added to the old mattress. There was a used bar of soap in the shower. We had the sense that the room had not been cleaned

It was great walking from our condo patio onto the sand just 100 ft from the water. The pool and beach bar were right there. Water was spectacular. A perfect setting to really relax for a week. Will definitely return.

We had no air conditioning and instead of our booked king bed it was a queen bed. Computers were down the whole time and everything was cash only. ATM ran out of money. Staff was rude.

We apologize that your reservation was during a time when all were experiencing island-wide power rotations for the Water & Power Authority to repair damage to their infrastructure. And we apologize for the queen bed. These owners usually do private rentals, and when they changed their decor, they decided on the queen sized bed without informing us. Although we had not previously received any objections, it is something we have to address with them.

Stayed her during a girls trip and had a great time. The resort is located on a beautiful beach and the restaurant and beach bar are very good. We stayed in one of the Villa's and the space was run down, broken panel on closet and the sofa beds need new mattresses. If you are staying and sleeping in an actual bed, perfect.

Nice Place. Water is beautiful. Could use another fair priced restaurant. Beach bar was nice but its a big step to the fancy restaurant in price. Had some trouble with the air conditioner freezing up and the power goes out quite often there. Overall a good time. I will visit again!

Our room was right in front of the beach which was amazing. We were unable to lock the room from sliding glass door. So we had to walk around every time we went to the beach. The shower had one tempature ( hot ). But other than that we loved it. We would go there again.

It’s all about the great beach
Only Major complaint was beds in “villa” 302A. Advertised for six people the couch mattress nearly ruined me and my sleep. My second night was better because Front Desk sent up more pillows second night you can speak with service 24/7 but office not open to give me extra pillows for first night. VIEWS were lovely. ROOM clean. Small bar restaurant great. Breakfast store (also lunch) is reasonable. Good coffee. This location is well managed and responsive to guests - but response delayed when office is closed.

Sapphire Beach has hands down the best beach area in St. Thomas. There is amazing white sand, snorkeling among beautiful fish and coral, and the beach is cleared daily of the abundant seaweed. The property has so much potential, but is severely lacking in maintenance. The condos are out-dated, in need of deep cleaning, and repairs. Our upstairs a/c did not work, there was no hot water in the shower, a ton of bugs throughout, patio table was warped and cracked, couches were stained, oven did not work. Lots of cracks and holes in the walls. If you’re here for the beach, this is an amazing place to be. We explored Magen’s Bay, Coki Beach, Margaritaville, and Frenchmen’s Cove, and Sapphire beach was everyone’s favorite. The pool has a vacant, dilapidated bar, and is very unappealing. The on-site eateries are nice, but expensive. If you want to cook in your condo, you’ll have to either take a taxi to Redhook ($5 per person each way) or have groceries delivered- which is *extremely* expensive. If I did this trip over again, I would pack a suitcase of food items for the week for days we didn’t feel like spending $100 on lunch. Overall it was a fun vacation, but make sure to bring plenty of cash. It’s a very expensive destination.

We were there over a weekend and found out the Beach Bar is a popular hangout open to the public. It was very crowded with lots of extremely loud music and partying. We were in unit A, which is closest and had to endure it until after 11 o’clock.

The property has a nice beach. However, the check in desk doesn’t open some times until 10 am or later and they close at 5 which makes it inconvenience for check in and out. The bedsheet and blanket are in poor conditions and do not appear very clean. There is only one key given to the guests which makes it inconvenient. The fine dining restaurant is pricey.

We are sorry we did not meet all of your expectations. Our front desk is currently open daily from 10am to 6pm and there is an emergency number posted at the front desk and also noted in the welcome packet. There are considerations in place for guests who arrive after hours and a key drop box for those who depart before we open. We do give one key at check-in unless a second key is requested. We will address housekeeping immediately about the error with the linens. For that, we do sincerely apologize. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. Linens are replaced regularly and clean ones are readily available. We would have gladly corrected that ASAP had we been notified. Finally, the restaurant is independently owned and operated. The front desk would have been happy to suggest one of the other restaurants on the grounds or in nearby Red Hook.

We had a great stay at Sapphire. Everyone was friendly and helpful, grounds were clean and very kid friendly. Gets a little crowded on days when the cruise ships come in but other than that we would stay here again.

The property is tired and in need of a refresh. The view and location is beautiful and is not Taken full advantage of. The rooms have uncomfortable bedding, pilled sheets, dated wicker furniture and tired bathrooms. The restaurant and bar closes early, which is disappointing when you want to enjoy sunset outside. The views from the point are breathtaking, but the pool doesn’t have towels to offer, a bar to enjoy a drink or snack with the view, and feels under construction. Very disappointing for the price paid.

We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. We take reviews very seriously. In order for us to inspect the unit and address any issues brought to our attention after the fact, we need to identify it, and we cannot locate a reservation under your name in order to identify the unit. Perhaps you would be so good as to call 340-775-2600 and let the front desk know which unit you stayed in. The resort is one of privately-owned condominiums, and while each unit must meet specific criteria for rental, each is furnished by the individual owner. Bath towels are provided in the unit and we provide beach towels at the front desk for our guests only, 9am-9pm daily. The bar/restaurant is independently owned and operated, and we will pass on your concerns to them. We would have liked to address your concerns during your stay. We could have suggested nearby bar/restaurants and grocery stores, and perhaps moved you to another unit, space available, but when we receive your concerns after the fact, it is too late.

There was, and is, an auto-email set up in the system to go to all guests upon booking. Unfortunately, it was not sent to you as there was apparently an expiration date associated with it, which we discovered and corrected when we found it did not got to you. We also apologize for your feelings of being rushed. Upon checking, housekeeping’s intent was to confirm whether or not you were departing that day in order to set up the cleaning schedule. Due to being continuing COVID precautions, housekeepers are not to be in the units at the same time as the guests. We apologize for the confusion.

The grounds were beautiful and the beaches so nice. I was expecting the poolside bar to be open. It is still relatively damaged from the hurricanes of 2017, sadly. The condo was fair. Lots of light bulbs out, fridge makes a constant banging noise. But it was very clean and the bed was comfortable as well. Overall, the experience was good.

This property is so run down it’s depressing. Cabana near the pool is so rotted and rusted it looks like a bomb shelter. This is not hurricane related, but years of neglect. The property has spent no money of maintenance in years. I can tell I’m a contractor.

The place is just the same as the pictures, it is absolutely beautiful, the only place I have seen water this clear is Hawaii and for living on the east coast it was only a 4 hour flight vrs a 14 hour, Cannot wait to go back !!!

I enjoyed revisiting fond memories of the old Sapphire in the 90s when every weekend was the Sunday beach party. With music, dancing, and plenty of people. Now however, it’s a ghost town after 7/8pm. Total disappointment since I told my son all about the Sunday parties. I lived in St Thomas for 6yrs and understand the financial devastation after experiencing Hugo. It seems to me Sapphire Resort has lost the motivation and pride in maintaining what still exist regardless of the financial ability to fully renovate. For example the pool area obviously took a big hit, probably many times but there is no reason why the pool area cannot be kept clean and orderly. Such as sweeping tree debris daily. The pool area was a mess. The rooms had a strong smell of mildew and previous moisture that has lingered, so much so I sprayed my cologne around the room daily. Recognizing we were beach front however, there was more than enough sand on the floor which made it apparent the floor cleaning detail was less than adequate for new arrivals. The TV electronics for both sets were an electrical nightmare of intertwined cables cords and hanging electric strips. The room was a decent size and the beach view was very nice! Again the view could have been improved with a little inexpensive TLC. What little we saw of the staff left me with a good impression, pleasant and happy we were there! As I said from the beginning I believe Sapphire has allowed the resort slip through the cracks. TAS

Yes, in an area where ALL comes from the outside by boat or plane, things do recover more slowly as you may recall from Hugo, though the devastation from Irma and Maria is more comparable to the St. Thomas experience of Marilyn. However, much had been done to recover prior to COVID, which delayed the progress and momentum. Just as with the rest of the world, COVID restrictions, though much eased, are in place in order to protect the staff and guests. We continue to offer unsurpassed natural beauty and wonderful weather in a relaxing atmosphere, though without the large gatherings and party atmosphere of the pre-COVID days. Thank you for coming and hopefully the world with continue to recover and all will be restored to pre-COVID conditions sooner than later.

On the plus side, the beachfront location was excellent and had lots of water activities, the pool was beautiful, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable, we had daily housekeeping service and the room was kept very clean. On the minus side, the coffee shop closed at 2:00 PM, and the beach bar/snack bar closed at 6:00 PM. Not having any food or drinks available on the property in the evening was disappointing.

Great place for the price. I was very confused on arrival on where to find the front desk. There are no signs?!?! I had reached out to the property a few days before arrival like I was told and never got a response. I called the number listed and no one would answer. Finally we were told by the bartender that the office is in one of the rooms in the A building. The girl at the desk was very kind and let us leave our bags in the office until our room was ready. The beach is beautiful and the snorkeling is fantastic. Snorkel gear is not included like I saw listed as one of the items included, but it was $10 for the day which was reasonable. We stayed in the building with the marina in front and had amazing sunrise views. Our room had working A/C on the second floor, but my parents room on the bottom floor was not working.

Beautiful home just needs better housekeeping the shower area was so dirty we had to go find cleaning supplies before we could even shower
