"Pampered experience; lacks "it" factor."
We splurged during hurricane season and spent two nights at the RC St. Thomas after spending 4 nights near Frenchman's Bay (Villa Marbella Suites) on the island. This is an awesome property: great views, service, amenities, pools, bar and eating options, and beautiful grounds/impeccable rooms. We felt pampered the moment we arrived (welcome rum punch or flavored water to cool you down, and friendly valets), were allowed to change and lounge by the pool while our room was getting ready after check-in. Resort fees included use of a great workout facility, snorkel gear, kayaks, paddleboards, but there were additional charges for use of any sailing equipment. If we had unlimited funds, I could easily settle into purchasing the $5 bagel and $7 coffee for bfast, $19 salad for lunch, or rounds of $15 specialty, frozen cocktail drink of the day. Honestly, the patrons vary from young professionals or newly weds splurging for a treat, to families with babies or college-aged kids, to business travelers, and to obnoxious wealthy people who will never be happy even with views like this. We ended up eating dinner in Red Hook with the locals and other tourists near the Marina both nights (Fish Tails & XO are a must) to save $$.
The rooms are great with beautiful views of Great Bay and private balconies, wonderful minimalist art, comfy chairs and beds, etc. The bathroom was my favorite part (marble and glass; great double sinks; wonderful bath products)!
