Nice hotel
Nice hotel, no complaints. Great location! Clean (undergoing renovations which did not affect our stay but will be really nice for the hotel). Super comfy bed!

Don't stay here
This is not a hotel, more of a badly run hostel. Rooms smell of smoke, pipes whistle lodlyall night long. Building work starts at 7am just in case you are finally asleep. Breakfast is added, whether you want it or not, and whetehr you have booked it or not, you will be charged, cash only, extra, in a very imtimidating way by aggressive Russian male staff. Paid a fortune for location and will never stay here again. Please be aware its horrific.

Near main railway station 5 minutes walk. City centre bar area 20 minutes walk. Reception 24 hours. Clean and tidy.

Ants everywhere, AVOID
Hotel is infested with ants. I had my room changed after the first night, I told the guy at the front desk I want a room just no ants. He said he couldn't promise that, I thought he was joking, but after the 2nd day in the new room ants everywhere. The city was sold out because of a tradeshow so I was stuck. Do not stay here.

Clean and Polite
A fantastic stay if you don want to spend hundreds of euros. Clean rooms a nice stop on my last day of Eorope. Very helpful nice people at the front desk. A great place to stay longer if you're exploring Düsseldorf!

During our stay the building work next door woke us several times however the service and location is excellent! Everything you'll need is located on the same road as the hotel. The interior isn't as modern as portrayed on the photos. But good value for money, would recommend.

Nice enough hotel, maybe not worth the room rate I paid but decent enough. Handy for the train station and a bit of a walk to the old town but nothing major, but there was plenty of transport links if you didn't want to walk. The single room itself was compact but ideal enough for 1. The TV only had a few channels and not great quality and the bathroom was also on the small size. But for an overnight or couple of days stay it was ok .

A 2 star hotel. It's an aging hotel with aging interiors and furnishings. The staff was fine, but only a few speak English, so bring a translator. Accommodations were mediocre, but acceptable.

It was poor and expensive. The staff are not helpful when I checkin at 7:30pm. Day shift staff are more alert. Beer from the bar is reasonable priced.

This hotel should not be on Expedia.

You get what you pay for...
Rooms are very simple, TV screens smaller than our computer monitors, TV stations were few and some major ones not available at all. Above all this musty smell stemming most likely from the drain in the bathroom floor or the overall badly ventilated bathroom (there was what looked like minor mold build-up around the shower). Somewhat suspicious: the free wireless Internet showed initial IP address from Sofia, Bulgaria (and not as expected Germany). Running a VPN tunnel is, as always on public Internet, strongly recommended. The only positive: some of the hotel staff was friendly and helpful.

A rip off!
Four of us stayed at the Rheingold for a trade show in Cologne. As is often the case when the big shows are on, you are forced to look further afield and we ended up in the Rheingoldhotel. Based on the reviews, we had limited expectations but I can certainly say that my experience was worse than I imagined. All four double rooms we booked were in fact twins (we arrived late and had no time to take issue with this) and everything was shabby. Exposed wires, a retro TV and a general grotty decor did nothing to impress. The duvet was too small and my pillow was the most uncomfortable I have ever experienced. It was pretty noisy too. I can honestly say that the photos provided are not remotely like the room that I stayed in. Ultimately, I sense that the hotel owner knows that he has a captive market when it is 'show time' and is milking it for all it is worth!

Clean room, comfortable bed, free wireless internet, free breakfast, low price, good location---this hotel is good where it matters. They haven't spent money lately on the carpet, it seems, but who cares? Recommended.

Efficient hotel but not for a hot day
The hotel is ok - but nothing can justify the 280 euro rate for one night - as it happens the rooms are very dated, small poky though clean; the single beds are really small. and it was a hot night - so no air conditioning means open windows - that means road noise - its on a busy main road. the staff are very pleasant and they loaned me their table fan so I did manage to get some sleep. Won't be booking again ... if its a warm day.
