Great time at the cozy cabin

We had a beautiful long weekend at this adorable cabin. We had beautiful weather so spent a lot of time by the fire, listening to the babbling stream and relaxing outdoors. When we arrived, we were greeted by two lovely Amish girls who gave a tour of the cabin.Nice, clean cozy cabin with enough room for all 5 of us! David was easy to work with and responsive to questions. Enjoyed our time in Woodward! Thank you!!!

Do not rent this house!!!

So when I first researched houses to rent up here while on vacation with my wife, I saw this house got good reviews. Just prior to leaving for our trip by a few days I looked again and saw two negative reviews. At that point it was too late to get a refund of my money so we hoped for the best and left for our trip anyways. Once getting there and meeting the owner I would say the two previous negative reviews of the property were correct. There are several piles of lumber in front of the property which sits about 50 feet off the road. You have neighbors on both sides of you so the lot is fairly small but you do have 3 springs that come out of the mountain there that is gorgeous. That is the best thing about the property. The cabin could be classified as rustic. We had to meet the owner to get our key which I think is unnecessary. Really it is so he can feel out who is renting his property. He failed to tell us the road was closed down the street even though he knew, added 20 minutes to our drive time. He then showed us stuff we didn't need to be shown and told us they don't lock the doors on their property. Once he left I got to really look at the house. My best rating is the house is a fire trap. No smoke detectors, he told us the gas appliance was partially broke but he didn't know how (okay so is there a gas leak maybe?), broken light switch in the bedroom, loose electrical switch/wiring in the storage room, and a rag hanging over the kitchen light so you don't directly see the bulb. He also had other lights strings hanging up around the house for lighting and the house smelled bad. You could tell the owner was fixing up the place himself. The bed was miserable. Two mattresses stacked on top of two box springs that he probably got for free from the dump. They caved in the middle and shook with every move so getting a comfortable nights sleep does not happen. The picture of the bedroom is old, it now has a sliding glass door that doesn't lock and a ratty old shower curtain over the window as your privacy. We left after 1 night and called the owner. When I told him we slept horribly and the elec. issues he said "oh you a city boy huh." Enough said, I'm not a city boy but when I pay to stay at your place, I expect to at least get some sleep and be respected by the owner if I had concerns. The rest of my discussion went downhill as I could tell he didn't care what I said. Don't rent this place, better places nearby for a good price.
