Our stay at the Atherton was great, we checked into the hotel, it was close to the concert venue and the room was great and breakfast in the morning waa great, we even received a 15% off coupon from the hotel for their restaurant

Got charged extra money for NO Reason!

Pros: Beside location, there's nothing i like about this hotel.
Cons: Train your housekeeper more, hire more educated employees.
The room was ok, housekeeper was unprofessional. When i checked in, it looked like the room wasn't totally done, some stains in the bathroom. Moreover, i got charged $8 for no reason. Called the hotel and the front desk told me that was the Parking fee. Well, I don't even have a car, how come i have to pay parking fee??? Then he told me the $8 was because I consumed two bottles of water in the room? I bought the water in downtown and brought them to hotel. And the front desk guy argued with me that I drink their water with the price tag on it. I didn't see any water in the room at all. This means the housekeeper didn't do his or her job and made me have to pay for their mistake. Furthermore, the tea bag they provided in the room was very disgusting, it was old tea bag and was opened by other guests already, the housekeeper not even replace it.

Pleasant, enjoyable and relaxing stay.

Pros: The room cleanliness and soft beds, the decorations, the friendly staff.
Cons: The elevators squeak a bit. Deep into the night, one can hear the distant, dim heartthrob of the heat generator on the Penn State campus,
Location: Golly, right across the street from Penn State, so if you are heading to the campus; you are right there already.
I was visiting Penn State to do some work with some of the Faculty and choose The Atherton Hotel from Expedia, not knowing much about it, but trusting the reviews. I walked in to a spectacular Christmasy decorated Foyer, so charming, so peaceful and calming. The rest of the stay was like that. Not many people here this week before Christmas. The staff were certainly solicitous for my welfare and I appreciated that. Room was quite tidy every evening on return; the bed soft and comfortable, the breakfasts in the restaurant quite tasty with plenty of choices. I highly recommend the hotel.

Room was fine. The curtains were hung on a residential grade traverse rod. Which was broken. The mattresses were a disappointment. My credit card was charged about $40 more than my check out receipt? I thought the hotel had shuttles? When I asked was told the public bus service all ended up at the facility where my daughter was graduating. The food was good. The bar tender made up for the rest.

The hotel is dated and the room was very average. This was PSU graduation weekend. Restaurant was understaffed for the breakfast rush.... The hotel could use some upgrades....
