Typical historic house, in the woods. Room comfortable and very clean. Friendly owner, with whom it was very pleasant to talk also of art and of his travels. Homemade breakfast, very appreciable. If you have trouble climbing stairs: there is no elevator.

Pros: The ambiance.
Cons: A little mold in the shower.
Location: We saw three plays at the Blackfriars Theatre. Easy walking distance. We didn't use the car at all.
Everything was excellent from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. We'll be back.

The Olde Staunton Inn is a beautifully maintained historic home. The innkeeper is very friendly and helpful in providing information about things to see and do in Staunton. Breakfast was delicious!

Nice place with great food for breakfast. The host left us a key and let us check in late because of graduation activities in Charlottesville.

Wonderful experience!

The Olde Staunton Inn was a great choice for us. We'd never been to Staunton and lucked out with this great pick. The proprietor is very nice and accommodating, the room was well done and comfortable, and the house was charming. It was also a short walk to town - close enough to be convenient and far enough away to be isolated. We'll be back!

Lovely hotel, easy walk to town

Posted Apr 14, 2015
The proprietor couldn't be more welcoming or friendly. The breakfasts are delicious and freshly prepared. The room was very comfortable, though all rooms are on the second or third floor. Interesting (not kitschy) decor in a 1910 historic house. Easy (10 minute), safe walk into town, which was a fun place to explore. We had an excellent stay at this hotel. In terms of what could be improved, while it was not an issue for us, we didn't realize that we would be on the third floor. The bed frame, at the foot of the bed, is steel and rather unforgiving if you run into it in the middle of the night! While outside the immediate downtown area, a short walk got us to restaurants, the Woodrow Wilson Museum, Blackfriars Playhouse and shops, including a glass blowing place. So, the location is quiet and yet convenient.
