A lot of money for a speedy motel. If this was $60 a night it would be fair but more then $100 definitely is not. I at least expect a pillow that can be slept on and some travel size soap for gods sake. Walls are graffitied, smells like cigarettes, hand soap dispenser in the shower for soap, not cleaned at all, the lumpiest pillow ive ever seen

This property is really really tired, the rooms smelled bad, musty and cigarette smoke. The sheets were old and threadbare. The bed itself wasn’t to bad except the mattress was wrapped in plastic sheeting do it rustled and crinkled whenever you moved!!

This place is gross. The smell of the room was ancient and musty. My allergies hit as soon as I walked in. Guy at the counter refused to give me a refund when I told him my allergies hit and had the nerve to ask me what allergies.

Great cheap, basic motel for visiting Steamboat
They're called the most affordable, no-frills lodging option in Steamboat for a reason, so you get what you paid for. In an expensive ski town, the price was a little steeper than expected but the room was exactly what we expected: 2 queen beds, some table space, a private bath with plenty of towels and soap, a TV from the 90's, and a mini fridge that (mostly) worked. The heating, lights, water, outlets, etc. all worked great, the room was on the first floor with parking conveniently right outside the door, and the woman at the front desk was nice - plus their office hours are from 6am to 11pm, so no weird lockbox instructions needed if you arrive at a normal time. We used the room to eat, sleep, and watch TV, and otherwise explored town as it's a little bit of a small space. At night you can hear cars passing by on the main street of downtown, but if you're dead tired from skiing all day, you can sleep right through it. Great walkability to everything downtown Steamboat has to offer, too, which was a huge plus for us. Checking out was a breeze because all you had to do was clear out of the room and leave the key in it for them to grab - no waiting on someone to be at the front desk when you're ready to leave or having complicated instructions for leaving the key somewhere. When we come back to Steamboat again, we will check here first for availability because we were satisfied with our stay.

The room was good for the price point, however, the odor of the room was unacceptable. As soon as you walk in there is the unmistakable smell of a nursing home in need of disinfecting. A strong smell of urine. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone with a weak stomach, or will.

Beds are old, motel is old. Little upkeep. I think the pillows and beds came from a prison. Both were lumpy and old. Bedspread and curtains were in poor condition. Towels were pink and old. Mirror not cleaned in years. Overall disgusting.

older hotel but value for $ was there.
hey this place is what it is...an older property that has some maintenance issues. But the price is right for the quality of the stay...seriously. If you are expecting the Hilton at $80 a nite in steamboat, those expectations need to be managed. That being said, the room was very clean and the shower had plenty of hot water. Everything else was ok for the price. I'd stay again.

This place is REALLY NASTY!! I wrapped shirts around my pillows because I didn't trust the cleanliness. Toilet would barely flush, and had pink bacteria growing in it. Shower was filthy; towels wouldn't be salable at a flea market. Whole place smelled musty and dank.... occasionally masked by the weed wafting from next door. Beds were anything but clean, with tissue thin sheets (to call them linens would be exaggerating). Safety lock on door was broken... not that the hollow core door couldn't be easily busted in). Pay more and stay at Rabbit Ears or Nordic or someplace... any place. I'm surprised they don't charge by the hour ;) ... or maybe they do if requested.

Older property, but clean, fridge, microwave, hair dryer, all things I did not need or use as was the coffee in the room. It had Kleenex which I appreciate, but bring your shampoo and conditioner. TV was really small, but I didn't go there to watch TV anyway. I was there to ride the backcountry which is awesome.

Terrible doesnt do it justice.
How this hotel remains in business is beyond me. The owner and his wife are in their 80s and try and do everything by themselves on a shoestring. They even clean the rooms. The grounds out front are an abomination and disgusting covered with trash and heavy equipment in various states of repair. The owner also owns a machine shop and I guess he parks this stuff out front. The walkway in front of the rooms is filthy including a dirty old sock outside the door of the room next to me which remained my entire stay. Everything in the rooms is from the 50s including the horrible mattresses and the pillows are beyond description. The owner is a Swiss immigrant and the Swiss are notoriously tight with money and it shows here. The TVs are miniscule and hardy visible the ceiling have water stains everywhere. To charge 98$ per night is a crime and the owner had to figure the pill with a pencil and piece of paper. The upkeep of this place is just to much for this old couple and the 48K property tax on this place makes earning a profit impossible or close to it. They should sell this eyesore to the city and let them build something useful on this prime piece of property. DO NOT STAY here. Go to the Nordic lodge one block up and note the difference.

I booked at Hotels.com, arrived at place 10:50 pm. Sign on office door said open til 11 pm, but door locked and office dark. Called—VM. Knocked and knocked until FINALLY guy open door and yelled at me! “What are you doing?” Super angry that Inhad the audacity to want to check in. Couldn’t find my reservation, though I showed him my confirmation number via hotels.com! Finally got a key. Room was dingy. Seriously NOT cool...

If you want to feel physically and morally gross this is the place for you. The owner of this place checked my friend and I in, two guys sharing a room on a ski trip trying to save some bucks. He said it was against his policy to rent a room with one bed to two men. He then tried to tell us that we had to pay him significantly more for a two bed room. After confronting his blatant prejudice and homophobia he eventually finished the transaction. This terrible experience was then accentuated with a disgusting room complete with stained sheets crappy pillows and the decor of your grandmas dingy basement. Lesson learned. We will not be back and hopefully neither will anybody else who reads this review.

The bed was the worst, a plastic cover with a single sheet, no mattress pad. It was so uncomfortable and the pillows were like the ones I threw away years ago. If you stay here, bring your sleeping bag and your own pillows.

DON'T STAY HERE.
This is my first time leaving a bad review, but I feel it is necessary. This is the worst hotel I have stayed at, and I am not a stranger to cheap motels on road trips. I wasn't expecting much since it is the cheapest place in Steamboat, but since I was not planning to spend any time at the motel (other than to sleep) I just wanted something cheap and in town. Check-in was a long drawn out awkward interaction that I should have suspected from the second I walked in and there was a glass protection window to the front desk. After hearing many inappropriate jokes we finally received our room key. He also mentioned several times that people can easily steal your credit card number and jokingly wouldn't give the card back while telling us we should have had the key first before giving him our credit card. The room itself is a dump, which is what I was expecting, but the bed was unbearable. Covered in plastic and the fitted sheet was so stretched out it did not stay on. The pillows look like a t-shirt was stuffed with a few more tshirts to make a tiny little lump - really which I had taken a picture of that. The bed is a saggy and creaky and if you try to sleep it in with your partner you will not be able to sleep and will both hate each other and be miserable. I laid blankets on the floor and actually slept there instead. Other than that, the location in town is great! Love Steamboat.
