Many positives but let down by small room

Posted Oct 17, 2016
Pros: Good breakfast in conservatory, and easy access to Tunnelbana underground network.
Cons: Size of the room.
Location: If coming by bus from the airport, you can get off at St Eriksplan and it's about 20 minutes walk from there.
The hotel is in very good location in a quiet and safe back street. It's just round the corner from a Tunnelbana (underground) station and a busy thoroughfare with loads of restaurants and shops, but the hotel is very quiet. The hotel has some nice historical features such as exposed brickwork and cobbles and a wide stone staircase, a very pleasant mix of old and new. The only downside is that I had booked a single room, but the room was very small even by single room standards. The shower room was modern but also small. Other rooms may have been bigger, so it would be unfair not to recommend the hotel itself but it would be worth paying a bit more for a slightly larger room.

Pros: Location, staff, breakfast, overall experience.
Location: Walking distance to most of Stockholm, one block from the subway (T).
Good hotel in great location. Very pleasant experience. More boutique then luxury chain.

Convenient well-run small hotel near center

Posted May 26, 2016
Pros: We greatly appreciated the reasonable price, good location and great breakfasts.
Cons: Don't improve it - it would lose its charm.
Location: The hotel is located in the middle of the Norrmalm section (near center) of Stockholm, well served by public transport (subway is 5 mins. away).
The Rex Hotel is in a renovated old building on a quiet street, 5 minutes from the subway. Downtown is 15 minutes walk away. Plenty of stores and restaurants (try the delicious Iraqui meze place next door) in the neighborhood, The room are well insulated (sound). The staff is fluent in several languages, especially English, and they are very helpful. Breakfasts are very ample. Good value for your money.

Clean and Neat but Small

Posted Mar 5, 2016
Pros: The blonde who checked me in. Free wi-fi. Price was affordable.
Cons: The bed, also perhaps clear out the excess furniture or find a way to get more room out of the rooms.
Location: I found myself always taking the subway out of the area.
First off, the names are confusing. There are three hotels all tied together. Hellsten, (Big sister / fancy) Rex Hotel (Mid range / this review) and Rex Petite. (Hostel) Hellsten is directly across the street from Rex Hotel. Petite is the same building complex. There is always someone in Hellsten but not this hotel. The hotel (Im talking about Rex Hotel here) offers free breakfast, bad coffee and hot water for tea. I never got to try the breakfast. There is no bar but if you go across the street to Hellsten there is a bar in there. My room was on the 3rd floor. Reserved for one person and one person was all that could fit. There was no room safe and no mini-refrigerator. (I saw a safe in the lobby.) Small LCD tv mounted on the wall. Free wi-fi. The bed was horrible. It was a old spring twin sized bed with a thin pillow-top mattress. A thin sheet and a presumed dirty comforter. I'm a minimalist kind of guy but they push the limits here with the linens. The area, it's quiet. Not much night life although you can find a few bars and restaurants. Overall I would try to find another hotel if I stay in Stockholm again. The room size and bed were just a bit too annoying for me.

Had stayed there before so kind of knew what to expect. It's a nice smaller hotel with a very nice staff. The breakfast is very good and the room were fine.

Centraly located Hotel. Cozy hotel room with a modern bathroom. Absolutely amazing breakfast. They had scrambled eggs, bacon granola, fixings for sandwiches, and at least 5 kinds of cut up topical fruit The breakfast room was quite lovely as well.

Quaint hotel in good location

Posted Nov 26, 2015
Location: Location is good, plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. The nearest metro station is just round the corner too giving access to the whole city...
Friendly staff and service, no problems encountered throughout the stay. The rooms were a good size. The only issue we had was no seal on the bottom of the shower door, leading to the bathroom being more of a wetroom, however the maid did clean and dry this everyday so it was not really a problem. Would recommend for a short stay in Stockholm!
