Hotel is old but really worth the money.

Posted Oct 9, 2016
Pros: Convenience to eating places and transport
Cons: Not able to have simple services like a kettle and cups in the room.
Location: Close to the train station. Can just walk to the hotel. Close to many restaurants and places of interest like the famous church.
Lighting of the common areas can b better. Looks dingy as we have to search to on the lights. Would be nice is each room can be provided with a small kettle to boil water.

Not to recommend

I don't recommend this hotel. Narrow bed, low standard rooms, old fashioned furniture, hole in the ceiling... In need of renovation. Location great though and staff friendly.

Hotel du Rhin - Convenient and Quiet Hotel

Posted Nov 22, 2015 on Hotels
The room faced an inside courtyard and was very quiet. The room was perfect for a one night stay. Bed was comfortable and bathroom had all what was needed. The staff were very friendly and recommeneded good restaurants away from typical tourist restaurants. The hotel is ideally located for the station and transport across the city by tram network. The breakfast is quite basic, and I have had better continental breakfast in France.

Did the job, requires some TLC

Posted Oct 4, 2015 on Hotels
Right opposite the station, so good from that point of view. There are numerous hotels there in an arc and all very similar in style. All require some TLC, but it was a one night stay for me and did the job. Some fantastic restaurants close by offering great food.

An older hotel, but the room had been repainted and the private bathroom renewed fairly recently. Decent breakfast. The corridors could do with some work, though. Close to the station, not a problem in itself, but some disturbances at night, perhaps from local girls and clients, accidently or deliberately trying to enter the wrong room.

Good location. Some hidden optional charges.

Location near the train/bus/tram station is very convenient. It is within walking distance of restaurants. I wasn't prepared for the 5 euro additional charge per nite for air conditioning which was needed to drown out the sound of the park/street noise and keep air circulating in a stuffy room. There was also a 7 euro optional breakfast charge. We found better breakfasts nearby for less.

Hotel good for visiting Strasbourg old town

Posted May 21, 2015 on Hotels
The hotel is very old, the exterior and interior and the furnishing all showing their age. The best thing about the hotel is its location. It"s right across the the train station and 5 min walk to the old town. Staff was rather surly.
