Pros: Our room (the Blue Room) was lovely.
Cons: It's hard to find if you're not familiar with the area. Better signposting for people who are arriving in the dark would be great :)
The Hotel Porter was very nice and made us feel extremely welcome.

Pros: The character, homeliness, welcome, gardens, dog, cleanliness and quiet.
Cons: The main aspect that made us feel uncomfortable was an overly enthusiastic staff member. Good service but uncomfortable at times.
Location: Great villages like Lavenham and National Trust properties like Ickworth.
For a very quiet get away this is a lovely hotel. For us there were a few things lacking. No shower, only 4 coat hangers and dirty windowsin our room. Slightly over cooked breakfast and a gushing hotel staff member we found was too much. On the plus side, the room was clean, comfortable and beautifully furbished. The dog was a pleasure and at no time did we feel rushed or intruded upon. We had full access to the gardens and often had the grounds to ourselves.

We had a wonderful visit. Tom was so sociable and made us feel so welcomed. Honey was an added benefit that made the B&B so homey. I would strongly recommend the Old Rectory Country House to any friends traveling to the Sudbury area. The only suggestion I have is to create a map for travelers coming from other countries. It is enough to have to negotiate the wrong side of the road, shift with the left hand and try to manipulate narrow roads without trying to find your way to a place that isn't even recognized by the locals. Even with this complaint/suggestion, I'd recommend the Old Rectory in a minute. It was that great.
