Nice greeting by staff who offered to park car in private parking area. Good location by the historic area of Bury St Edmunds. Quiet and comfortable.

A lovely hotel but staff need more training

Posted Jan 13, 2017
Pros: Comfortable bedrooms. Character building in the centre of town. Friendly staff.
Cons: Staff training and the standard of dinner.
Location: Bury St Edmunds is a lovely town with plenty to see and do. Cafes, restaurants, Abbey gardens and theatres and Cinemas
Had a lovely clean and comfortable room. The hotel has charm and quirkiness. The staff are friendly and polite. They are mostly young and other nationalities. They would benefit from extra training in food, drink etc. They had no idea or heard of some classic liqeurs and did not stock them. They need to listen to the clients more. Breakfast was good but dinner a disappointment. The restaurant is trying to be fine dining but the standard is very average. The waitress could not answer questions about the menu. Steaks were poorly cooked and fish dish was cold.. Cheeseboard had just two cheeses on it. Cheddar and stilton. Overpriced. Needs improvement.Bury st Edmunds is a lovely town with plenty

Central Hotel

Posted Jan 12, 2017
Pros: Quiet room location, Continental breakfast was excellent.
Cons: Full length shower curtain or glass panel on the bath.
Location: Close to shops, the Abbey and plenty of places to eat and drink.
Stayed at the Angel Hotel for 3 nights. Lovely big room with French doors in a bay. Windows opened which I always look for. Bathroom good but only complaint would be that the shower curtain did not reach the bath therefore the bathroom floor always got wet. Provided with water every day which was good. Had the Continental breakfast which was excellent and ample to set you up for the day. Free car parking was a bonus and the conceise service was very good.

Excellent location - amazing historical location

Posted Jan 12, 2017
Pros: Great location, clean and amazing decor/art in the lobby and downstairs bar - worth spending the money for a drink there.
Cons: Furniture in the room
Location: Loads of cultural, historical and shopping opportunities - a gem of a place to visit.
We had one of their basic rooms which was large, clean and comfortable - although the furniture was a bit worse for wear and the sockets were in strange positions. The view onto the Abbey Gates was fab and the staff were efficient.

Great location for bury st Ed town

Posted Nov 7, 2016
Slow service in lounge and hard to get a table for a drink. No automated table buzzer to get staff attention. Breakfast not included so at £14 each we just went into town. Great room over looking abbey gardens so was fantastic view of fireworks! Great hotel for shopping eating and drink in town. Great butler service parking your car and dealing with your luggage.

A great location.

Pros: Car park was an asset.
Cons: Plumbing and the EATERY need attention.
Location: Excellent location and Bury is a fine town with plenty of sites to visit.
Food excellent but dining room drab and poorly furnished. Usual lack of comfortable chairs in our rooms and bath water not warm enough. Shower a disaster. Luggage and car handling excellent But our room was a "mile" from lift.

Great hotel in centre of Bury St Edmunds

Posted Aug 24, 2016
We arrived fairly late but we're able to park right outside the hotel. They even paid for the parking in the morning giving us a couple of hours until 11 to look around the town. We had a problem with our booked room but they moved us to another lovely room whilst we went out for dinner. All the staff were excellent and and facilities were first class.
