A lovely hotel but staff need more training

Had a lovely clean and comfortable room. The hotel has charm and quirkiness. The staff are friendly and polite. They are mostly young and other nationalities. They would benefit from extra training in food, drink etc. They had no idea or heard of some classic liqeurs and did not stock them. They need to listen to the clients more.
Breakfast was good but dinner a disappointment. The restaurant is trying to be fine dining but the standard is very average. The waitress could not answer questions about the menu. Steaks were poorly cooked and fish dish was cold.. Cheeseboard had just two cheeses on it. Cheddar and stilton. Overpriced. Needs improvement.Bury st Edmunds is a lovely town with plenty
