Small, clean with a view

Posted Dec 16, 2015
Pros: Central location near The Blue Mosque and restaurants. Five minutes from the Sultanahmet tram stop. The breakfast was fresh and the room very clean.
Cons: Pictures of the hotel does not accurately depict building condition.
Location: Lots of historical sightseeing. Most things are in walking distance. A large number of restaurants, caffe's and pastry shops. Yummy!
Small hotel in an old building with a very nice view of the Sea of Marmara from the top floor breakfast area. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms leave little for other then the bed and can be chilly in the winter time. Great for overnighters and low budget travelers with minimal baggage. It is a very narrow walk up to all the floors.

Close to historical attractions.

Hotel was within walking distance of Sultanahmet. The stairs leading up to the rooms were very narrow. Hated the shower, toilet, sink combination. Friendly staff though.

Pros: Great location Roof top Rooms are clean
Location: Blue Mosque Aya Sofia Tramway In Sulthanamet
Nice little hotel in a great area, near Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia. Rooms are clean, breakfast is ok, the view from the roof top is nice. The owners are discret but welcoming.

Very clean and convenient location

Staying at Hotel New Era proved to be a very good decision. The hotel is close to all the major attractions in Istanbul, located in a good neighbourhood and very well maintained in spite of its age. However, breakfast should have more variety and the lady there should be more friendly.

great hotel for the money!

Not a bad place for the money! It's not a super luxurious place, but the bed is comfortable, the staff friendly and accommodating, it has air conditioning, and it's conveniently close to all the must-see stuff.

Good for one night

The room is small but the front desk is nice and the location is great. We only stayed one night and the hotel arranged transportation to the airport for 5 euros each. Breakfast was a good Turkish spead.

I don't trust this hotel management, I had to cancel me amex card after our reservation because he used it. We had to cancel our reservation about 30mins after checking in because we found out they didn't accept cash and we only had credit cards (due to failure of foreign ATMs letting us withdraw money) In addition to that the room was smaller than a walk in closet, looked nothing like photos, and smelled like some of the hostels we stayed in in a 3rd world country.... Had we known the owner had access to charging our card (which he said in the phone twice that he couldn't do credit) we would have just stuck it out for the one night. I feel my personal information is compromised.

Has been charges as a result of a mistake. But then the charge has been returned to the guest.

VERY FRIENDLY STAFF

Staff very friendly, specially the old man at the reception, but disappointed with the fact the credit card machine was broken. It seems it is since a long time and they don't want to get it fixed so soon.
