The property was old, filthy and unhygienic. The staff were rude, they would turn off the in the rooms and lobby and you constantly had to request they turn the heat on as we were there in February and it was cold. The washrooms were not equipped with shower doors, or a shelf to put your toiletries on. The water would get everywhere in the washroom even thought you would try to contain it in the shower area. If this hotel was in North America it would be shut down as it is an absolutely health hazard. We saw spiders, filthy linens, etc. We stayed their two nights and they were the worst two nights of my life. We had to book a completely different hotel and moved to one that was fabulous just down the road. The hotel is also on a hill, so if you are a little older it is not a great location as you have to walk up and down the hills constantly to get into the city. The only plus, it is close to the city, the Bazaar, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, etc.

Worst hotel in Istanbul
Worst hotel ever. Very noisy, bad location and bad customer service , i would call it an animal zoo rather than a hotel. Fake advertised photos. I booked for 4 nights but stayed for 1 night only. I would recommend it for an enemy.

ayasofya hotel is the worst in istanbul
the worst exprience i ever had. the first day when i go to checkin they told me they have nio water and they can not give me a room. as a solution they transfered me to the other near by hotel. that room was stincky big junk. next day they offered me abasement room. i asked them to canel the reservation if they can not deldliver the room i reserved. they said no. they are rud and the customer service is extrimly poor.

Avoid this hotel
To start looks better in the photos. The reception people are as inept as they can be. There was in my reservation a promise of premium bedding, a safe, a desk and daily housekeeping. None happened. The bedding was raggedy and stained. The beds were not made properly; just with a sheet on top. I asked them to change the bedding and they offer to bring me some clean sheets but because the housekeeper was not in; I had to do it myself. After a long trip to get that is the last thing you want to deal with. I asked the reception about the safe and they made lame excuses and after the second day the housekeeper did not clean I asked again in reception and they did not even offer an apology. I would ask hotels.com to take this hotel out of their site. It is clearly a scam. On the bright side, it had a working air conditioning.

We were left waiting for 3 hours because they said there was a problem with the hot water in our room. We said we were happy to wait until it was fixed. Suddenly they asked us to come to another facility. It was a hotel still under construction. We refused and went back to the front desk of Ayasofya. The manager ignored us and instructed the escort to take us to rooms across the road from the hotel. He did not engage with us or explain the situation. We had been awake for thirty six hours at this point and he was aware of that. We acquiesced at this point out of sheer fatigue. The room was dark and unlike any of the photos on the website. The heating, hair dryer and hand held shower were broken. The TV did not work and there were no tea or coffee facilities. The sheets were not changed and we had to ask for clean towels. The manager avoided us on sight for the duration of our stay.

When we arrived to hotel.they try to give us basement room and rooms smell very Bad. They took us other building and ask 120 euros extra .to get standard room we paid 120 euros extra for 3 rooms. It should not basement rooms any hotels.

We arrived at the hotel we were 7 persons, i reserved via Expedia two rooms "one family room and one triple room".. they gave us a basement room, an underground room with a very bad smell, bad lightening and very terrible like horror movies i swear it was like the saw movie. the hotel is horribly a mess and very very very very very bad, it was my first time i ever experience this kind of non-professional hotel and staff,they are very rude and dealt sarcastically with the situation!! they refused to change the basement to a room though we explained to the unprofessional staff that we had asthma and cannot stay at this basement, we asked them to stay all at the family room all 7 persons, they said that we need to pay extra money for that !!!!!! annnnnd the rooms were in two separate buildings, you have to cross the street to go to your sibling room!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after all, we did not get a refund!!..we never stayed at the hotel we went to another hotel, and lost our money. when i purchased the rooms, it was not written on the specifications that the rooms was underground.

I went this hotel they say we don’t have room and we have send you other hotel I dint expect and they say other hotel also our too and we went there to check but it s not hotel one bad quality apartment this apartment was so dirty and I didn’t say . I argue with them if you don’t have room why you change the money why you had open the rooms for reservation . They don’t answer . There was no director or any responsibility person, reception desk clerk was so rude and not understanding English and Turkish . I think he’s foreigner but doesn’t no how to answer even did give the manager name .

Looks much better on the pictures. Room was very cold and wet as the heating was not working so we had to turn on air conditioning and wait for hours till it got OK.Room was quiet dirty with mold in the fridge and a bit of half scratched mold on the ceiling.Towel had holes in it.Water was not really hot, there was small electricity blackout which turned off the lights in our room.Probably better in summer for somebody not too picky cause the price is really cheap but now in winter after a long hard trip it was really disappointing so we had to move to a different place next morning...

Hotel is cheap and cheerful around the corner from Blue Masjid approx 600 metres. Local shop is 100 metres up the hill. The sea is also nearby and taxi to Grand Bazaar is 10tl. There is ample tram links to here from Cambrelitas and Sultanahmet tram stations.

Lovely cosy hotel
We weren't very impressed when we saw the place . Then we were shown our room we still weren't impressed we went and bought air fresher then realised it wasn't too bad it was cosy clean spacious bathroom toilet in one. If the rooms had new sheet's we wouldn't mind staying there for the duration of our stay in Istanbul. The sheets were clean but not new. We were pleasantly surprised excellent location. However be wary of nearby shop owners the prices are unbelievably overpriced. As we were walking past we heard how the locals were impressed with themselves in how they overcharged the tourists

Poor basic rooms - would never book again!
- Not very clean rooms, dusty etc - Air Con did not work (Luckily we only had to spend 5/6 hours in hotel) - Window missing in one room!!! but were still given it, tolerated it as were only staying in room for handful of hours as leaving early for flight but missing window atleast kept room cool with none working air con!! - Lots of noise coming from reception - Poor quality hotel, pictures very misleading, dated hotel needs a good clean and refresh
