River Run by Keystone Resort

River Run is the largest of 3 village areas that make up Keystone Resort. Spread 7 miles along the Snake River, the resort encompasses 3 mountains: Dercum, North Peak, and the Outback. River Run Village, located at the base of Dercum Mountain, features the Keystone Children's Center and Kidtopia; Warren Station Center for the Arts and Quaking Aspen Amphitheatre; Miner's Park Playground; a bungee trampoline and climbing wall in summer; and the Keystone Ski and Ride School. The village also has numerous restaurants, bars, and shops, and hosts many cultural festivals throughout the year. The condos are in the Black Bear, Jackpine, Arapahoe Lodge, Silvermill, Springs, Dakota Lodge, and Expedition Station buildings, many of which feature restaurants and shops on the first floor as well as lobbies with fireplaces and televisions. They are within easy reach of the slopes by way of the River Run Gondola and Summit Express High-Speed Quad.

Der Fondue Chessel - Travel by gondola to the top of North Peak for an authentic Bavarian-style raclette and fondue experience, complete with live Austrian musicians who will have you dancing on the tables.

Keystone Stables - A horse-pulled wagon/sleigh ride takes you guests through the Soda Creek Valley to this rustic homestead, where an authentic cowboy dinner and songs await.

Keystone Ranch - Fine dining and rustic elegance in an original 1930s ranch homestead. AAA Four Diamond restaurant spotlighting game and other Colorado foods.

Alpenglow Stube - Ski in for lunch, or travel by gondola for dinner to the top of North Peak, get comfortable in cozy slippers upon arrival, and enjoy Bavarian-style fine dining with amazing views at 11,000 feet.

Ski Tip Lodge - Former 1800s stagecoach stop transformed into a bed and breakfast, serving a rotating four-course dinner menu.

Bighorn Steakhouse/Tenderfoot Lounge - Casual steakhouse and lounge with fireplace where guests can watch a game or just relax with a drink.

The Summit Express chairlift and River Run Gondola are 1-3 blocks from River Run buildings. All of the condo buildings have outdoor pools and spa tubs on site or access to the pool at an adjacent building. Guests receive complimentary Play for Free vouchers for night skiing on night of arrival, ice skating, and Nordic center trail access. The Keystone Resort has 2 world-class golf courses, The Ranch and The River, both challenging and scenic.

The area offers year-round outdoor fun. Besides skiing and snowboarding, winter sports include snow tubing, sleigh rides, snow cat tours, ice skating, and ski biking. During the warmer months there is hiking, horseback riding, biking, whitewater rafting, fishing, and the Kidtopia Play Park.

The Breckenridge Golf Course, a 27-hole course designed by Jack Nicklaus, is 11 miles (17.7 kilometers) west of Keystone. The Dillon Dam Recreation Area, 6 miles (9.7 kilometers) west of Keystone, offers boating, sailing, camping, canoeing, fishing, and Nordic skiing. The Breckenridge and Silverthorne recreation centers have indoor pools, basketball courts, skateboard parks, indoor climbing, tennis courts, and fitness programs.

The village is nestled at the base of Dercum, 1 of 3 mountains that comprise Keystone, which has a summit elevation of 12,408 feet (3,782 meters) and gets 230 inches (5.8 meters) of snow annually. The resort offers 3,148 total acres with 135 trails: 19 percent beginner, 32 percent more difficult and 49 percent most difficult. These are accessible by 20 lifts, including 2 gondolas. Keystone is known for the largest night-skiing operation in the state, and lifts turn until 8 PM for an 11.5-hour ski day.

Breckenridge is 7 miles (11.2 kilometers) away, with a summit elevation of 12,408 feet (3,782 meters) and an average of 300 inches (7.6 meters) of snow annually. Breckenridge consists of 4 interconnected mountains — Peaks 7, 8, 9, and 10, each with its own personality — that encompass 2,358 acres, including 4 terrain parks, 4 half-pipes, and 772 acres of bowls. The resort's 155 trails are 52 percent expert/advanced, 33 percent intermediate, and 15 percent beginner; they are accessible by 31 lifts.

Other shuttle-accessible Summit County resorts are Arapahoe Basin and Copper Mountain. A-Basin, as it's known locally, is 13,050 feet (3,977 meters). Its 69 trails are reached by 6 lifts, and the terrain park, Mutha' Hucker, is one of the highest in North America. A-Basin's season extends from October through June, depending on weather and snow. Copper Mountain has 125 trails accessible by 22 lifts. It also features terrain parks for adults and children, and jib parks, including Night Rider, open evenings on Fridays.
