The external doors had mould on them. The shower screen had mould. The floor of the shower had mould. The room stunk like stale water and/or sewerage. The whole room stunk. I would assume that it was stale water in the "S bend" of the bathroom floor. Had the room not been used for some time? It was an offensive smell as soon as we opened the door. Our clothes the next day had the smell in them. Running the shower and clearing the "S Bend" seemed to clear the source of the problem but the smell did not dissipate.

Disappointed that they call ocean views when it is only if you ignore the guests in the other rooms staring straight into ours. No daily service provided. One of the pools was closed, reception shuts at 4pm. Good location though.

The room was very clean and had everything needed for a long weekend away. The view was stunning and it was so peaceful to sit and watch the waves break as they rolled in. Great location that was walkable to shops as well as the beach. The staff were very friendly and professional. We highly recommend the Coolum Beach Retreat and give it a five star rating as we found no faults with the staff, room, amenities or the facility. We will be back again for sure!

Excellent location. We stayed in apartment 5a for 10 days and while we had a good time, there are a few things we were disappointed about: 1. Parking is not guaranteed 2 No broom or dustpan in room 3. No laundry detergent 4. No clothes horse 5. Not enough bath soap 6. No small milk carton in fridge on arrival 7. No info pamphlet about the place on arrival On the plus side, for the most part it was quiet, the hot tubs were very enjoyable facing the beach, Sauna was lovely, pool was nice and everything was walking distance in terms of food options and clothes shopping. Markets on Friday night were good, and on New Years Eve the local park had fire works which could be viewed from multiple locations. Really enjoyed the board walk along the coast which went right up to a look out. The staff were good, the room was clean on arrival. Wish we had a beach balcony, as the room we had felt a bit dark and enclosed. If we stay there again it would have to be a room that has a full beach view and balcony off ground. We were a little too close to ground level and we had many water dragon lizards on our deck which meant we didn’t feel comfortable leaving our sliding door open as the lizards seemed pretty tame, and seemed quiet happy to get close to us-and they are not small lizards! They did however provide us entertainment. If our sliding door had a fly screen, we would not have found them an issue at all. Air conditioner was very good.

Perfect for a short stay at the beach.
Our apartment was adequately furnished with a large balcony with an ocean view. Location is great with with the beach across the road and cafes, shops and the Surf Club virtually on the doorstep. I was confused by pool pictures which looked very different. They are! There are two pools, the paler one being only a few inches deep so fabulous for young families. The blue pool is lovely. There are steps everywhere so if you are mobility challenged call ahead they can put you in an accessible room. We'd stay there again.

Manager was very rude and reception seemed clueless.. Air-conditioning did not go below 20 and it was very hot in the room. The water from the shower went all over the floor in the bathroom which is a huge safety concern. Streaming services and Wi-Fi lagged very badly and someone managed to control my TV without the remote from somewhere else. Very scary and creepy. Do not recommend this place.

Perfect spot
Great place to stay and not expensive. Rooms neat and clean one block away from the main cafe's and the Surf Club. Staff are lovely and the pool was clean and plenty of room to sit. We will definitely come back. Great spot.

Good location, easy walk into main part of Coolum & right across the road from the beach. Room was a good size & clean. Pool was nice. Expedia needs to check the description as this is NOT a 4 star hotel. There is no housekeeping (not an issue but i didnt know about it as you need to scroll through all the property details to see this & they dont tell you at check in). Only a "STARTER" pack of toiletories provided (1 bar of soap, 1 mini shampoo & 1 mini conditioner), they did give me extra soap when i asked however my request for some more towels wasnt fulfilled. Another guest told me they were told more towels would be $3 each. Beach towels cost $5 for your stay, I'd expect accommodation with 2 pools would provide these free of charge. Itsnot great value for money when the basics arent provided.

The terrace room was great for relaxing with beautiful views down the lengthy Coolum beach. Everything was within an easy walk. The barbeque was a little slow for cooking and have the verandah doors open for cooking inside for ventilation. Parking was easy with a lock up garage. We really enjoyed our stay.

I've been to Coolum many times over the years, and although I've stayed at other properties I always return to the comfort of the Beach Retreat. The property is right across the road from the beach and you only have to look out of the window in the morning to check the beach conditions. Cafes are a short walking distance and the supermarket is a ten minute walk. The property has had recently had some reno work done including the re-configuration of the children's wading pool. But for me, within Coolum there is a strong sense of community and for me The Beach Retreat fits within that sense of a nice place to stay and recharge the batteries.

The property is definitly dating to the point we had to change rooms as it needed quite a bit of renovation, and TLC. We were advised by other guests that many of the owners will not do repairs. However, the highlight for me was the Receptionist Chris who changed our room due to the amount of issues. However the inconvenience also came with another charge of which I was extremely disapointed with of $133.79 which was a bit rich. The fact we were in a 2 bed and then a one bedder, one would have thought we should NOT have been charged anything given that we had to change because of how bad room 39 was. Not good customer service there!. However the biggest shout out must go to the Receptionists that seem to be carrying the weight and load of the many complaints, especially Chris and secondly the lady I spoke to today 28/9/23.
