A most enjoyable location.

The Sir Douglas Haig is a pub in a quiet village. It is located a short distance from the main road and traffic past the pub is minimal. It has a good sized car park. The check in was very easy and the chap doing it was very friendly. However, he didn't mention the live music which was happening that evening! The room was spacious, with plenty of room to accomodate three people in the single bed and the large, very comfortable, double bed. It also had a connecting door to the next room, which would be handy for large families. It had a fair sized and well appointed en-suite bathroom, with shower over the bath. A nice touch was the mirror over the sink, which didn't steam up when using the shower. My husband is an 'old school' wet shaver and hates it when that happens! The music I mentioned earlier, went on to midnight and was slightly annoying, but that was all forgiven when we had breakfast! There was a good choice of food and my husband said that the Full English is possibly the best he has ever had. High praise!!

Friendly and relaxed atmosphere

A very friendly atmosphere made us feel part of the family. Clearly others felt the same as there was nice banter with other guests. Fixed rate breakfast wsa good value if you like the limited range on offer; very poor value if not.

Comfortable with friendly staff

Location: Short walk to shops. Not a main tourist destination but fantastic location if passing through and want to experience local town and friendly people.
Good parking, clean rooms and great restaurants. Staff are excellent and ensured our stay was enjoyable.
