Nice Place With Friendly Staff

Nice place to stay if you are in Susanville. Walkable to grocery store, Starbucks, a good pizza place and many fast food restaurants. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Nice to have a microwave and fridge in my room. Brought my own pillow and was glad I did. The only thing I would change is the pillows (they're hard) and adding an elevator. Had to haul my stuff up the stairs in several trips.

Good in a pinch

Pros: Location to family in Susanville.
Cons: Replace mattresses, and plumbing fixtures.
The hotels in Susanville are all 2.5 - 3 star from my experience. The Red Lion is one of the better ones in the area. The beds are not great and the plumbing makes some crazy noises but it did the job.

The hotel was nearly empty but they put us in a handicapped room. We believe this was punishment for booking with a third party.

Greetings traveler. Quite the contrary, you were given the only downstairs room we had left. There were other rooms on the second floor; however, you indicated that you prefered a room on the first floor. We are surprised you would think that an ADA compliant room is some sort of punishment; quite the opposite actually. There is extra room for any traveler to enjoy especially those who need more space for maneuverability. We welcome bookings from third party websites and invite you to book with us again anytime.

The competition is poor; so lacking motivation.

Pros: Good continental breakfast.
Cons: Strong musty smell in room upon entering.
Location: Hiking.
The bed was comfortable. I brought my own pillow. The room was clean. The decor is nice. The room had a musty smell. I opened the window for a couple of hours when it was 20-degrees outside. I then turned on the heater. This reduced the musty smell considerably, but not completely, but I got used to it. At first; I thought the room had just not been used for a while, but now believe they probably shampooed the carpet in winter and the carpet did not dry fast enough; causing a little mold under the carpet. They should only shampoo the carpet in warm weather. It is certainly costing them money in heating with customers opening the window in winter to air-out the musty room. It was quiet enough for me. You can hear people in the hall talking and closing doors, but not in the next room. The continental breakfast had a good variety. Make your own waffles w/ waffle-batter. Egg & sausage on an English-muffin microwave yourself. Hard-boiled eggs, 3 cereals including raisin-bran, fruit: apples, bananas, oranges; toasts w/ jam; biscuits w/ hot gravy; danish; yogurt; Orange-juice, apple-juice. The orange-juice was sugary; not high quality. No water. They should serve the tiny 6-oz. bottled waters. I would stay there again only because the competition is old places and not any better. Their competitor, the Indian casino hotel up the hill has cigarette smoke coming through the open doorway of the casino to hotel passageway and drifting eventually into the hotel room area

Susanville's Best

Wifi needs frequent logging in, which is a bit of a pain. Otherwise, I'd say this is the best hotel in Susanville.

Greetings, Traveler... So that we can have maximum bandwidth for every guest, our WiFi system will log you out after 10 minutes of inactivity. We know this is not like you may have at home, but with up to 200 people sharing a common WiFi signal, it is necessary. We have the fastest bandwidth available in our area and are always looking for ways to improve. Thanks for staying with us and for the 5-Star review; which is very much appreciated. :-)
