A historical beautiful buildingPosted Oct 7, 2015
Pros: History and the friendly staff
Location: Close to the M42 so all other venues around that area are close
This place is magical/ historical building some of the windows are around 400 years old. The food in the restaurant was very posh and of excellent quality. Loved the hole of the stay and will defiantly booking this place again.

Delightful hotel in wonderful setting, but....Posted Jul 3, 2015
Pros: Gardens, terrace, spa (although we didn't use it)
Cons: Dinner food and coffee to be served hot. Instructions to be checked on computer.
Location: Good for National Arboretum - about 35 minutes away.
We stayed in hotel at the end of June as it was a handy venue close to the National Arboretum. The hotel is lovely and it was great to sit out on the terrace and walk round the gardens across the moat. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and bedrooms were nice. There were two complaints though. Firstly, despite the food at dinner being delicious it was served luke warm which spoilt it. The coffee was luke warm too. Secondly, our stay was a treat for my parents staying with us so I had specifically asked for all expenses for both rooms to be put on my bill. Despite me signing for them on my room though, they sent the bill to my parents room! This was very disappointing. They did apologise but the damage was done.

Old World CharmPosted Jun 6, 2015
The grounds around the hotel were beautiful and you can walk inside and out to experience the character and charm of the thousand year old hotel. The hotel staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly.

We stayed as a couple as a quite getaway. Positives, Exceptional hotel grounds, Nice pool, Comfortable room, Very clean, Historical building Bad points, Most places need a lick of paint, Furniture is sad and tired Bathroom needs updating Set up for conference, with conference prices Extremely expensive bar £10 +for a glass of wine (GLASS) Food average at best. Evening meal should have been beautiful seeing as they brag about two aa rosettes, however it was so dry from being kept warm in the oven. I would have thought it impossible to make shoulder of lamb dry however they managed it. Breakfast was worse . You could break a pain of glass with the eggs and the sausage and everything else was so dry because of being mass cooked and not cooked to order. Croissants were a poor quality and most other things were average. Bar is to small for the amount of people that congregate before they eat and it's very overbearing when's theirs 20 people shouting in your ear. Mobile phones allowed in the restaurant people having business meetings while your eating..... Really not cool. If this hotel wants to go down the conference side of things they need to keep it separate from other hotel guests and I would suggest a banning of mobile phones in restaurants as this shows a lack of respect to other diners.

Enjoyed the stay very much, hotel and staff were very good. Excellent food but a bit pricey on the full menu.
