Rather disappointing desk behaviour

Pros: Breakfast is decent. Staff in restaurant remembered me from previous visits
Cons: Desk behaviour. Billing.
The hotel took a charge on my credit card for incidentals. Even though no incidentals were used by me at the hotel, the hotel went ahead and process the charge on my credit card. I wrote to them, twice before they replied. The second time they said wait 5 business days and the charge would be refunded on my credit card, but it was not. I wrote again and they said contact the credit card issuer. This is really not acceptable behaviour by a chain such as Marriott. I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past 5 years - but will be reluctant to do so again.

Surprisingly quiet in Swindon

Pros: The bed was a good size and comfortable.
Cons: Air conditioning needs to be easy to work in bedrooms. Give guide in room on how to open windows as you are not shown to your room.
Location: Not close to station or centre so be prepared to walk half hour or drive. Outlet centre in town is best thing.
No queues at this hotel for a weekend break from check in to check out; even the meals of breakfast and one evening in the restaurant. No request to book ahead so it meant all our timings were relaxed for the whole weekend. Very relaxing which is what we wanted. My husband enjoyed a couple of swims in the pool and I the gym. Both very good experiences for us. Car parking was close and spacious and gave us no concerns for the car. We enjoyed the breakfast help your-self selection. Our evening meal however was not a great success. The chef seemed to have sprinkled spices on every dish. Butternut squash as a vegetable was sprinkled liberally with cayenne pepper but this was not mentioned in the description. The duck salad was so spicy with chillies ( again no mention on the menu) that I couldn't eat it and sent it back to get it replaced with a simple Caesar salad as a main course. The deserts were dull and the waffles cold, solid and too sweet. They may have tried to make up for our poor experience (or it might be their normal cheese board) but the quantity of cheese was ridiculous. Perhaps they really wanted to push my partners cholesterol levels through the roof! 3 types of cheese. The waiting staff were plentiful and efficient but had no training to check with the customer that the food was OK. Unlike most establishments where we eat.

We had a very pleasant stay on the occasion of my cousin's golden wedding. The staff we very good and looked after us well

Best hotel in Swindon.

Pros: Waiting staff in the restaurant were a delight. Really friendly, professional and caring.
Cons: Stope charging for wifi and if you must charge, make it a reasonable price - £15 a day is extortianate!
Pleasant stay for a couple of nights. Good facilities and excellent customer service.

Great hotel, easy to find

We were visiting family and this hotel was perfect in every way. Location, comfort, cleanliness, welcoming. Breakfast was good but the cooked breakfast could of been warmer. Would stay again.

Great hotel near city centre

Booked a family room for our stay which was great, spacious rooms which were very clean and beds very comfy. Dressing gown and slippers provided, we were very happy! Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Would highly recommend

Swindon Marriott

Pros: Fresh eggs for breakfast. Omelettes available.
Cons: Overcooked bacon and sausages at breakfast. Room rate was very high. If you can get a good price it is the best hotel I have stayed in in the area.
Location: Did not have much time in the area, just business meetings.
Easy to Park. Good check-in with nice staff. Large clean room. I only had a standard room and this was perfectly adequate. Good food and drink selections. Nice relaxing breakfast. Good location if doing business in the area. Need a car or taxi really to go anywhere else.

Okay for a one night stay

Having stayed at other mariott resorts in the past I would have to say this stay was disappointing. The bed wasn't properly made, which is not too much of a problem but there were other things as well that combined just didn't feel like the hotel was well taken care of. We were a towel short in the bathroom, and the tissue box that was empty had not been replaced. We were also short of tea and coffee sachets which again on their own are not a huge issue but just showed that there wasn't much attention to detail at all. The same was with the cleanliness. The main mirror was dirty and the bathroom taps looked like they hadn't been cleaned properly, with mould around the bathtub and watermarks on the taps. The bed and pillows were comfortable and staff seemed friendly. All in all an okay experience but for the price I would have expected better from a mariott hotel.

Conveniently located for my business trip.

Pros: If paying for a superior room you would expect to have free wifi.
Hotel was very clean and the bed comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast offered a good choice of fresh food.
