Poor front desk manners

Posted Jan 15, 2018
Pros: Clean rooms
The check in was bad. Queue jumping with being pushed me back. I told them I thought they were being racist, I couldn't understand why else I was not being allocated room. I had arrive about 09:30 and only got allocated at 14:00. Check in staff could not satisfactorily explain to me why that was so. After this bumpy check in, rest of stay was frosty On booking I had asked for consideration for an earlier check in; did not receive any acknowledgement of the request.

Dear Jachi, you were allocated a room at 12.45pm. Our guaranteed check in time is at 2pm and this information is displayed in all booking channels for guest reference. We explained to you that the guaranteed check in time was at 2pm and that we would endeavour to get your room ready as soon as possible, which we managed at 12.45pm. Guests that were assigned rooms before you had arrived before you. Sincerely, Toby Burgess, Assistant Manager.

Good potential- careful about hidden charges

Posted Dec 25, 2017
Pros: Central
Cons: Airconditioning
Location: Close to the station and all places. Bus route is nearby.
Booked the hotel from Expedia. They charged for the extra person however the hotel wanted to charge another $70 per day for the extra bed. Hotel staff is pleasant and helpful. Very centrally located. Easy access to all visitor sites. Clean rooms and spacious. However the most terrible thing is that the air-conditioning is programmed to go off 6hours after the start. So in hot Sydney summer you wake up 3-4am in the morning. This is terrible and then you can't go back to sleep. The management must change this policy or increase the time to 8 hours. If not I would NOT recommend anyone to stay here unless you want to be like a Zombie in the morning!

Facility was clean. Room comfortable. Has a frig so convenient for eating in, if desired. Two water bottles were provided. If used, the price will be charged to hotel bill. the price charged is reasonable. About same as the cornet market.

Very comfortable hotel in a great location

Posted Nov 15, 2017
Pros: Staff, size of room, comfortable bed, large shower, kitchenette. Despite being on a busy road/intersection, sleeping area was very quiet.
Cons: The overall cleanliness of the room and furnishings. Curtains soiled in places. Bathroom tiles not completely clean.
Location: Great location! Close to public transportation, food and convenience stores, restaurants. Across from Hyde Park- walking paths, gardens.
Hotel desk staff very helpful with transportation, location of points of interest. Room very large and comfortable. Great view of Hyde Park. Close to bus and train, walking paths.Attached coffee shop/restaurant very convenient, good food.

Friendly staff, good price, great location.

Posted Oct 23, 2017
Pros: Location, staff, price.
Cons: Not much. The things I thought were inconvenient were built into the design.
Location: Surry Hills, Central Station, Hyde Park, Oxford Street, CBD.
This is a very nice hotel for a very reasonable price for Sydney. And the best thing about it is the staff, who go the extra mile. I was personally shown to the car-park! Rooms are big and comfortable, and the location is excellent, with Surry Hills, Oxford Street and Hyde Park / the CBD all close by. Only downsides - minor in my view - are only one slow lift and four car-spaces. So if you want a car space, make sure to request early!

Nice location construction outside at night

Posted Oct 18, 2017
Pros: Proximity to downtown
The hotel was a bit sparse for Best Western but staff and facilities were decent. Two issues with our room was there was construction going on outside only at night and was mast annoying in that is was only at night. The bathroom door made awful noises when opening and closing room 503.

Twenty Minutes from Everywhere

Posted Oct 15, 2017
Pros: The location, Friendly staff, close proximity to public transport, comfortable
Cons: The water pressure in the shower. Soap provided was green and v soft, because it never dried it made a mess on the vanity every time I used it.
Location: Great location handy to buses, trains and walk to Circular Quay, Botanical Gardens,Darling Harbour, Queen Victoria Bldg, Central Station, Bus to Bondi
The facade of this Hotel is unfortunate, being a Historic Building, the exterior is unable to be modernised. However the Hotel is intimate, has character and staff are very helpful and courteous. The rooms are surprisingly big, modernised, and comfortable enough with kitchenette, a toasted sandwich maker, but no toaster. Don’t expect a bathtub. Free WiFi! A trick with the Airconditioner - it’s on a timer and cuts out after ? 6 hrs. Reset with the switch on the wall underneath when retiring for the night else you could wake up in a sauna like I did! I was on 6 th floor so took the one elevator which was somewhat sluggish, otherwise quicker to leg-it by stairway. An in-house Cafe adjoining the Hotel was handy, as was the Convenience Store right next door. A lot more Restaurant/Cafe choices on the street than in CBD. Location was, as I mentioned in the header, 20 minutes from all the tourist spots by walking, bus and train, and George St Mall, CBD an easy and pleasant 10 min walk across Hyde Park. Buses and train station are a few minute’s walk away. Hotel is near the top end of a hill so not too much of an uphill hike to Hyde Park area. Having been one to previously stay more centrally in big flashier Hotels, I found Stellar to be friendly and surprisingly adequate for my 4 day stay.

Great spot within walking distance of the city and Central Station which suited us perfectly. Nice little cafe in the Hotel where you can enjoy a delicious, cheap breakfast. So convenient.
