Dear Jian, Thank you for choosing to stay at the Abey Hotel, and taking your time to share such positive feedback of the hotel. It’s always a pleasure to hear when a guest has thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Our central location in Surry Hills provides easy access to all that Sydney has to offer. It’s great to read that you enjoyed our location to the city centre, Bondi and Chatswood and also with our easy access to many restaurants, cafes, bars and some of the great attractions on offer. Your support for our hotel is greatly appreciated and we hope to welcome you back to our hotel in the near future. Warm Regards

Our stay was horrible. Will never stay there again. And will not recommend. There was hair on the beds, pillows smelt. The towels were discoloured. And bathroom smelt musky. Its in desperate need of renovation. Cups were metal and colour was peeling away. Walls were dirty, hand prints in the bathroom and dust. Cockroaches everywhere.

Lovely Location.

Posted Jan 23, 2017
The staff were amazing and willing to go above and beyond to help out and although room service prices were higher than expected the meals were exquisite. The pool/spa room was the perfect place to be after taking on the Sydney traffic at the end the day. The drink machine in the hall way broke and swallowed my money but the staff at the desk were very apologetic and willing to refund me as well as offer alternate ways to find a cold beverage. The items in the bathroom (soaps etc.) smelt delicious and worked well with all types of hair/skin. The only real downside was that it was a pain to find even though the front entrance of the building is painted bright orange it's quite easily lost in the street and the underground parking was incredibly difficult to get in and out of. The location however was quiet and hardly any traffic noise was heard from the second floor. Not being too far away from the Iconic landmarks a short taxi drive or a lengthy walk.

Good for a weekend in Sydney to watch the "Derby"

Posted Jan 21, 2017 on Hotels
The hotel is within walking distance of Sydney attractions (an easy walk to Central and Museum stations) and to the Moore Park sports precinct, which is where we wanted to go. It was easy to find, although the underground parking was a bit of an adventure. The room was simple but clean and comfortable and spacious enough.

Good location with easy transport links

Posted Dec 16, 2016
The location is good - easy walk into the trendy Surry Hills area for cafes and bars. It's big walk to the Opera House and Quay but manageable - otherwise there are good transport links and you're close to the metro and buses to Bondi etc. Staff weren't overly helpful - i was having trouble with my laptop but couldn't get help to use the lobby terminals without extra $$ - and the free wifi advertised is actually capped, so watch out for hidden charges. I'm not sure why these hotels try and trap you for small amounts like this and extra credit card fees etc - I would get a much better impression if their rate was the real price. The rooms are arranged around a weird, small indoor pool with murky light from a skylight. i'm not sure this is successful - particularly not when people are splashing in the pool late at night. But the room itself was fine and this is a reasonable if not particularly cheap option for Sydney if you don't know your way around and want to be fairly well located.

Overnight stay

Posted Nov 25, 2016 on Wotif
Hotel rooms are clean but very dated for the price you pay, about 5min walk uphill from central station. Stayed on a Saturday night and room was loud from guests around us. Be aware if parking car park is extremely tight and only good for small cars,we were not told and had great difficulty parking

A poor start but did improve.

Pros: Convenience to central Sydney locations; helpful staff.
Cons: It's a low/medium price hotel. For this, I don't expect the Ritz. It's good for what it is.
Location: Central Sydney CBD, Oxford Street (gay bars/clubs), great food options. Crown St - hip cafes, clothes, homewares.
This was my second stay at the Abey/Cambridge. It's a great little hotel conveniently located to Oxford St and Sydney City. The staff are wonderful and very helpful. This time I had a room by the pool, where apparently a pod of athletic whales had taken up enthusiastic residence. It was very noisy but didn't bother me as it was during the afternoon. Be careful walking to and from your room as the tiled floor becomes awash. The room I was allocated was tidy with twin beds. The interior was very clean but when I raised the blind, someone from an upstairs room had obviously over-indulged within the last day or so as there was dried vomit all over the outside of the window, including identifiable tomato seeds. Unsightly, but not a major problem, though the cleaner should have noted this and organised for it to be cleaned before a guest was given the room. Then, the air conditioner didn't work. When a staff member came to bring a bucket of ice (top marks for this!) they tried the aircon but couldn't start it. I then pointed out the vomit and was promptly moved to another room. So, they did a great job. Would I stay there again? Absolutely.

Hotel condition is not that great, truly a 3 star but a little pricey for the price paid.
