Excellent View, Excellent StaffPosted Nov 25, 2015
Pros: Everything, particularly the view.
Cons: Elevator delays could be substantial, but not really much that can be done about that at this stage.
Location: The list is endless, but it is right next to Sydney harbor and a number of cruise options. Also a short walk to the Opera House.
We had one of the Premier King Rooms with a harbor view. One of the best view rooms I have ever had. Room was very spacious, and all staff were extremely professional, cheerful and helpful.

Pros: location, staff
Cons: Hotel transportation would have been nice to and from the airport
Location: close to shops and restaurants.
I had come from New York to Sydney at an early flight (it was not check in time so room was not available yet). I left my luggage at their concierge while I toured around the hotel vicinity while waiting. As soon as hotel room was available they gave me a buzz. Hotel concierge delivered the luggage to the room even before I checked in which I thought was good. The hotel is nicely located by the Rocks in Sydney tucked away from the hustle and bustle of a big city.It is walking distance to shops and restaurants and accessible by public transportation. I had a nice room with a harbor view I had a pleasant stay at Shangrila Hotel altogether. All the staff were helpful, accommodating and professional. I will definitely recommend this hotel to friends/families.

Great place to stay close to everythingPosted Nov 17, 2015
Pros: Comfy beds
Cons: Better service in the breakfast restaurant
Location: Shopping, Sydney Opera house, ferries, restaurants,
The Rocks is a great experience and this hotel is close to everything, you walk to the water catch ferry to zoo, lots of restaurants, shopping, market on Sunday, and hotel has a great view from the deluxe king and super comfortable beds. The Westfield shopping center is just up George Street and is quite the experience.

Beautiful hotel close to Circular QuayPosted Nov 3, 2015
Pros: Clean, very lovely room. Location and view. Everything.
Cons: Nothing, great hotel. Loved it.
Location: You can walk to Circular Quay, the Rocks, the Opera House and Botanical gardens easily. The terrain is a bit hilly, bring comfortable shoes.
I booked a room at the Shangri La for a one night stay in Sydney on the advice of a local because I wanted a place near Circular Quay. There is easy direct access to Circular Quay via the airport train (17 Australian dollars) and you can walk to the hotel in 5-7 minutes. Please note that the Shangri La is up hill and you have to climb one short flight of stairs to reach it, so if you have a lot of luggage, you might want to take a taxi from the train station. With a carry-on, it was not a problem. I booked a room with an Opera House view and the view was spectacular, looking out over the water and the Opera House, out towards Manly. The room was large for a city hotel, incredibly comfortable, with a nice bed, desk and an immaculately clean bathroom with good amenities. I stay at a lot of hotels and rarely is the room as tasteful and as well appointed, with great lighting controls, an HDMI ready TV, fast free wireless etc. Check in was fast and the concierge was knowledgeable with good tips regarding restaurants, walking. Breakfast was not included at the rate I chose. I did not use the bar on the top floor, which apparently is very popular has a lovely view. I chose to eat dinner down in a restaurant in the Rocks. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance.

Luxury hotel close to tourist attractionsPosted Oct 26, 2015
Lovely hotel within walking distance of the harbourside and its many attractions including the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and The Rocks. You can walk into the CBD or catch public transport which is close by. Comfortable clean rooms. The rooms with the most commanding views obviously cost more but you can also see the view from the bar on the top floor after 5pm.
