Stayedonly one night. Loved the hotel because of perfect location, very close to opera house, The Rocks, Circular Quay. The hotel in a very historical building, comfortable and clearn, big rooms, nice bathrooms. Breakfast was a little bit dissapointing but sufficient.

Old fashioned but classyPosted Sep 6, 2015
Pros: Large room
Cons: The winter duvet was too hot for late August, but it wasn't warm enough to take off the bed completely'
Location: Edge of CBD and in walking distance of Circular Quay
Large room, nice community areas, good location. Good breakfast, free newspapers, opposite park.

Our experience was next to perfectPosted Aug 24, 2015 on Wotif
Pros: The room, the position, the staff, the atmosphere, etc., etc...
Cons: Room service was for breakfast only; it needs to be extended to most of the day.
Location: Best location - Circular quay, Harbour, Opera House, The Rocks, etc. All forms of transport - Ferries, Buses, Trains, Taxi's, even Water Taxi's, etc.
Our experience was next to perfect; this hotel was grand and in a perfect position; every staff member we encountered, were warm and extremely helpful at all times, they made us feel comfortable and special. The room was one of the most spacious we have ever encountered, with all we required. Even though we were not happy when we arrived, because it looked like we could not get room service to our room, we were very happy to go to "The Bar" which we found to be another great experience, allowing us to relax and unwind in a great atmosphere and service, among other patrons that seemed to be very happy.

Classy base for Sydney centre excursions.Posted Aug 24, 2015 on Hotels
we were greeted by a very friendly welcome, dropped our bags at the reception and went off to the opera. When we arrived our bags were placed in a comfortable, well appointed room. The hotel location is fantastic if you want access to the opera house precinct. Breakfast was very good and the seating in the restaurant was comfortable and allowed for choice of seating overlooking the botanic gardens. Great way to start the day enjoying a slow start to the day over breakfast.

More like 4.5 not 5 starsPosted Aug 23, 2015 on Wotif
Very nice hotel however looking a little dated. For a 5 star hotel the walls are quite thin and voices, in the room next door, speaking at normal level could be heard. Very clean and comfortable room and the location is fantastic. Walking distance to the Opera House, the Rocks and Circular Quay railway station.

Location locationPosted Aug 19, 2015 on Wotif
Pros: Love the location close to circular quay and the opera house and gardens
Cons: The rooms a are looking a little tired and sometime in the near future maybe some fresh paint and a spruce up may be in order .
Location: The botanical gardens are beautiful and always a pleasant walk . The ferries ,the opera house is close by the rocks and lots of places to eat .
My husband and I stayed for the second time at the sir Stamford on the weekend . Both times were to,celebrate our anniversary and because we enjoyed our first stay when our sons purchased a red ballon gift of 3 course lunch at the botanical gardens restaurant we decided to return and make aborher lovely weekend . Our room was clean and comfortable , this time we were at the rear of the building which was a little less appealing than the wonderful view we had last time of the city and overlooking of the gardens . Staff were very pleasant and we love the old world atmosphere of the hotel in general .
