Though less than an hour’s drive from Sydney, this property was a rural haven. The house is huge, the rooms are spacious, beds comfy and there’s multiple options for living, lounging and dining. The outdoor area and pool is lovely as advertised, the horses are delightful! There were multiple, generous toilets and the master suite with it’s jacuzzi was awesome! It was too warm for the fireplace but I’m sure that would be great for winter months.
On the down side, the instructions to find the house were tricky. The property listing is not the actual address to put in the GPS and it took us a while work out that we needed more instructions. Once we found those, we made it to the house alright. After a solid hunt for a key safe, we had to call the owners to find it.
Then again, to operate some of the gadgets. Instructions could’ve been a bit clearer in their arrival pack. Apart from this, the entry garden doesn’t have the curb appeal from the pictures on the website and it’s all a bit worse for wear and dated. The big BBQ outside was not functional. A small, portable bbq was in the utility space, but not connected to gas, and we weren’t sure if it needed to be used there or taken outdoors, so we ended up using the oven/grill for our meals.
There was a sign at the door to keep shoes outside the house, but considering the amount of dirt in the uncarpeted areas, I don’t think the previous occupants had followed this and the floor had not been cleaned properly ahead of our stay.
Lastly, the property can sleep 8 comfortably, but there was not enough crockery, cutlery, China ( teacups) or glassware to suit 8 people and we had to load of dishwashing after every meal and snack.
All our issues were ofcourse only minor operational issues and wouldn’t prevent us from returning to the property another time. Overall great find!
