Hotel in heart of town

Posted Aug 8, 2015
Pros: It's location and friendly staff
Cons: The air conditioning needs an upgrade
Location: Many of the famous sites in Ortygia are a 5 to 10 minute walk from the hotel as well as shopping, restaurants, bars, and access to the sea.
The location of the hotel sits right in Orytgia. Minutes walk from historical sights, restaurants, plazas, and access to the sea. The disappointing element centered on the air conditioning which fell short of U.S. standards.

Pros: Location, staff and historical nature of the building
Excellent location in old city. The hotel front desk staff were very nice and helpful. The private parking even though a extra cost was well worth it.

Great hotel in a great city

It's difficult to fault this place. It's near impossible to drive there given the one way system, even with SatNav, but once you're there, it's perfectly placed next to the cathedral, has nice big rooms and a decent breakfast which we had outside on the terrace. Staff could not have done more on check in, although the service at breakfast was pretty miserable. That would be my only complaint.

Everything about this hotel was great for me as a single traveler. Very thoughtful and professional staff, room overlooking the piazza (with balcony), wonderful breakfast and facilities. Highly recommend.

Centre of Ortigia -- the Old Town

Posted Apr 22, 2015
Pros: Baroque grandeur, central to Old Siracusa, quality accommodation.
Cons: There was no free tea or coffee available in the lobby as implied in description. May have been due to new restaurant addition works. Not a big issue.
Location: At low tide there are interesting remains of what might be the earliest harbour constructions to the southeast.
Excellent welcome with an upgrade to a room with a balcony overlooking Piazza Minerva at no extra charge, by willing and helpful staff. The hotel is in the pedestrian area, but you nevertheless drive down the narrow Via Roma from the north to defeat the one-way system. Just slowly nudge the pedestrians to one side! Unlimited good eateries nearby, and the Duomo Cathedral with its very obvious ancient Doric Temple columns built into the walls is just round the corner. Most impressive at night. Area feels very safe.

Perfect location

Cons: Breakfast service
Friendly helpful reception staff. Location could not be better. Room comfortable and spacious. Only negative was poor service at breakfast - eg failure to clean tables or replenish buffet items (we were by no means late arrivals at breakfast). Well worth staying in Ortigia rather than new town despite difficulty we had in finding hotel by car. Cross bridge on to the island. Then bear right at junction near ruins of Apollo temple which you will see ahead slightly to your left. Follow road up to large piazza with Diana fountain in middle (Piazza Archimedes) exit diagonally opposite and then turn immediately right (ignore the restricted entry sign as you are allowed up this road to access the hotel). Hotel is on rhs. Two temporary spaces outside. Hotel will then take your car away and park for you.

Wonderful hotel in Ortigia

The hotel is very well located close to the Duomo in a classic location. The staff could not have been more helpful and our room was spotless. I would recommend this hotel without reservation.

Great hotel in centre of town

Posted Sep 21, 2014
Went for a junior suite and not disappointed - the private terrace was the icing on the cake. Great room, lots of space and everything very clean. For me the only improvements would have been a) a kettle in the room and b) better options for vegans at breakfast (a better fruit salad and some non-dairy margarine would have done the trick).
