Great Place Near the Big Attractions

Posted Feb 18, 2017
The Villa Politi is a gracious hotel, and the staff takes care of you. We were there in February, the off season, and there was remodeling under way in some of the rooms. The hotel moved us twice so we wouldn't be bothered by the noise of construction or the smell of paint. The hotel is in walking distance of the Paolo Orsi archeological museum and the Archeological Park. The restaurant in the hotel is very good, with a limited menu that changes each day. When the restaurant is closed, though, you need to take a cab to get to the restaurants in Ortigia. The desk will call one for you, and at 10 euros for the ride, I'd say the fare is reasonable.

Not a 4 star hotel. It should be called 2.5 star. We've stayed at other 3 star hotels in Italy during our trip and they were nicer. It was also very humid everywhere (in lobby and in rooms), seems like they don't run A/C at all.

A most enjoyable return visit

Posted Nov 22, 2016
Pros: Breakfast is outstanding...a variety of dishes. In the warmer months the hotel has an excellent pool. The ambience and the service are above par.
Location: There is a restaurant nearby that has table service as well as take-away available. The archeological museum is well worth a visit.
I have stayed at the hotel numerous times and always found it to be an excellent choice. The management is friendly and attentive and the rooms are well maintained. The hotel is located within walking distance of the famous archeological museum. There is a bus stop outside the hotel for guests who wish to travel to the center of town. It's also possible to walk to the center...allow 20-25 minutes.

Very pleased

Location: Location was ok , 2km to get into ortigia. Plenty of sightseeing nearby , get the hop on hop off bus €5 all day and bus stop is close to hotel.
Hotel was better than expected. We drove through a run down area to get to it so were a bit unsure of what to expect. Its a very grand hotel with a lot of history. Within grounds are old prison walls. Breakfast was superb and could not fault any of the staff, always so polite. Would definately recommend this hotel.

Charming hotel

Posted Sep 12, 2016
Pros: Loved the decor, history and feel of the hotel. The pool was great too.
Cons: Bar service could be somewhat improved. Most of the time you had to ask for staff and wait.
Location: Right by the impressive quarry and close to the private sea lido but quite far out from Ortigia. Expect a 10-15 euro taxi ride each way
Great looking hotel, very picturesque setting and staff are on the whole very friendly, particularly on reception and by the pool. A bit of a trek from Ortigia up a hill but having the pool was worth it!
