Pros: Clean, comfortable, close to Syracuse University
I tried this reasonably priced hotel while touring Syracuse University six monthS ago with my son. It's easy to get to and from the university. I just stayed again when I brought my son to school.

You get what you pay for.

We usually stay at the Hampton Inn on Earie Blvd. but they were booked so I got a room here not realizing it was a Motel not Hotel. Staff was less than hospitable. Rooms were outdated and bare bones. (No closets, just a coat rod, no blow dryers in the rooms and bathroom smelled mildewy. Won't be staying there ever again.

Because it's Syracuse, it's close to lots of stuff

Pros: It is 15 minutes from downtown, and is inexpensive. It is RIGHT off the thruway (90).
Cons: The paint job in the bathroom was coming off, and I could see brick-red paint under it. The toilet was really too low flow.
First room I checked into, even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking hotel, reeked of smoke. I hope whoever had it before me got charged to $250 cleaning fee, though it didn't seem they cleaned it. However, I was quickly given another room that was actually an upgrade. Red Roof is pretty bare bones--the upgrade had a fridge and microwave, but there was no iron. The room next door had an AC unit that sounded like a freight train, and seem to come on at about 1 am every night. They also had, ahem, low flow toilets that didn't really do a good job.

Ugly Hotel, Next to Freeway.

Posted Aug 25, 2015
Pros: Parking was nice.
Cons: Everything but the parking.
Location: Nothing really. Walmart is pretty close.
They charge you market price as if you are staying in downtown. Avoid this hotel, its very close to the freeway where you can hear the cars screaming as they pass by. Maid service is weak and lobby smells like grandmas closet.

Excellent location! Extremely quiet!! Basketball team also stayed at hotel and partied; couldn't hear a thing! Wonderful restaurant (Joeys) within walking distance. Overall wonderful experience. Will definitely stay again.

Location: Do not eat at Mafia pizzeria next to hotel. Owner is rude, place is dirty, but online hotel orders are filled immediately, but not confirmed.
Room was clean. Would have liked a mini fridge, but we brought a cooler and there was plenty of free ice. Very quiet even with the amount of people and pets staying there. Very nice.

Won't stay here again

Posted Aug 5, 2015
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Better A/C units. Control of people smoking in or just outside of rooms.
Room smelled like smoke (even though it's all "non smoking"). Apparently there weren't any other rooms available as the best the front desk staff could offer was to spray the room with air freshener which only helped for a little bit. The A/C unit was so loud we used ear plugs and still couldn't sleep. The room itself was clean, but there was still food left in the refrigerator from a previous guest and it was roasting in the room when we arrived because the heat was on high even though it was in the 90's outside. All in all, the worst stay we've had in recent memory, and that's saying something as we've been on the road now for over 2 months.
