Location is superb

Posted Oct 13, 2017
Pros: Location, very helpful staff
Cons: Outdated rooms.
Location: Location is about a mile away from the little town of Tahoe City. They have their own outdoor activities that can be arranged.
No in house restaurant makes it a bit problematic. It may be that one day you don't feel like taking out the car to drive to one of the cities nearby OR you may not have a car if you are here for a conference etc. Many restaurants around do not deliver. Other than that, the heated pool and tennis courts add to the appeal. Property is nice with different kinds of accommodations for different needs. My room was big and decent but was properly outdated and yet overpriced. Overall, recommended but book early to avoid feeling like you are paying too much for not the best value for money.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay. I am glad that you found our staff friendly and helpful, and that you enjoyed Granlibakken's location in a peaceful wooded valley. Our restaurant onsite is only open in the winter months on holidays and weekends, but Tahoe City is just about one mile away. I am sorry that your room felt outdated, I have passed your comments on to our Rooms Director, who will work to remedy this issue. Thank you again for your feedback.

Beautiful place in the trees

Posted Sep 19, 2017
Pros: The buildings are wood siding on the outside and attractive....the grounds are beautiful...it is quiet...the rooms were gracious and comfortable
Cons: ? I'm not sure
Beautiful place in the trees, on a somewhat hilly location, lots of light and sun, beautiful grounds - very 'Tahoe-ish'. The staff were all wonderful and pleasant.....the pool and hot tub were just great....there is a neat 'ropes type course' for grown ups and kids alike and you are located right at trail heads for hiking. We very much enjoyed our stay and look forward to doing this again.....it was PERFECT...

Great quiet location but rooms need updating. Beds were uncomfortable. Breakfast buffet was great. Pool and jacuzzi were nice.

Close to restaurants, the lake and supermarket.

Pros: The location and decent breakfast.
Cons: They can update the rooms. I would say that the carpets and everything else were terrible.
Location: In winter they have a slope. It's close to the lake and has a forest adventure course which is great for kids.
Booked into a "privately owned unit". The bathroom and kitchen were original '75.

Imagine an overpriced motel 6 ... but worse.

Posted Sep 4, 2017
Having stayed in about 12 hotels in the past two months, i only felt compelled to review this place as a friendly warning to fellow travellers. Room was spacious but really worn, outdated by about 2-3 decades, slightly dirty, and simply ugly. No need to belabor it or the details. The room we were given was a dump and a pretty expensive one at that. Given it was the holiday weekend and traveling further afield to find decent accommodations wasn't feasible we stayed for two night. Be warned that although there are apparently decent rooms here as evidenced by some online guest photos, this establishment has no qualms about booking guests into really poor rooms for exorbitant prices. The practice is digustimg.

Lovely Forest Retreat

Posted Aug 23, 2017
Very peaceful resort in the forest. Feels like a cabin. Comfortable beds. Remodeled bathroom with fluffy towels. Clean and quiet. We loved the excellent breakfast buffet, big swimming pool and amazing large jacuzzi. Hiking trails too. All good.
