Hotel on the Lake Tahoe shore

Posted Oct 1, 2017
We enjoy staying at this hotel. The restaurant terrace is right on the shore with a fantastic view. The food is great and the serving staff are very personable. It is experiencing the best of Tahoe! This is located on the northern side of Tahoe, no casinos, just the beautiful forest and lake,

Nice hotel. Lake view room.

It's a nice rustic cottage type of accommodation. Nice lake view balcony room. Very efficient room service ( kudos to John and the guys in the kitchen). Staff atending the breakfast nook are very warm and accommodating. Would definitely recommend Sunny Side Restaurant and Lodge.

Good lake front property!

Posted Aug 6, 2017
Pros: Lake front room, nice patio dining area
Cons: Needs an elevator and new mattresses
Location: All lake activities, hiking, bicycling. In winter, all sports
Would have been better with guest only beach front next to the docks for the boats.

Not worth the price

Posted Aug 3, 2017
Pros: Location.
Cons: Summer staff needs to be trained in customer relations. Needs to be an outdoor space for guests to have a place to sit in sun and have access to lake.
Location: Great location. Close to town, bike trails, Truckee River, rafting, and hiking trails.
The Sunnyside seems like the type of place people return to year after year and becomes an old, familiar friend so they don't seem to notice (or care) about the flaws. Checking in we had to wait while the receptionist finished telling a story to her friend. When we asked about the facilities, particularly access to the lake, we were told the water table was high so they didn't have a beach or place to swim. No alternatives were presented. When asked, she said there was a public beach next door. We were not offered towels or chairs. Our room was on the second floor-we were not offered assistance with our bags. Room had partial view of lake with small deck. It was clean and had some nice features but no table to sit at. Breakfast was offered in an open area on the second floor overlooking the lake. One morning housekeeping came by and vacuumed while people were eating. Later, another worker began cleaning with toxic-smelling chemicals. Management was kind enough to adjust our bill for inconveniences. Great location-close to town, bike trails, and public beaches. Wish there was an outdoor area we could have spent some time enjoying the lake-that's what we came to Lake Tahoe for!

Hello, Thank you very much for being our guest. We really appreciate hearing about our guest's experience. I'm sorry your stay was not what you expected. I will talk to my staff about being much more helpful. Clearly customer service is number one and we dropped the ball here. I'm glad we adjusted your bill. We will look into getting beach chairs for our lodge guests next year. Kind Regards, Don Edelstein Lodge Manager

July 21-22, 2017 Stay

Posted Jul 28, 2017
Pros: Location on Lake Tahoe's eastern shore, rustic mountain lodge motif, and high quality of food, beverage, and service in restaurant.
Cons: Parking and noisy add-on A/C in room.
Location: Hiking on Tahoe Rim Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, skiing in winter, water sports in summer. sight seeing at Emerald Bay about 15 miles to the south.
We had a lakefront room with balcony overlooking the restaurant & bar and with a great view of Lake Tahoe. Sunnyside Lodge is rustic mountain lodge with stone and log cabin exterior. The room was clean and very nice. It has been remodeled at some time in the past. The original units had heat but no A/C. A freestanding A/C unit was added. It kept the room cool but was very noisy. Parking is very limited and a challenge at busy times. Sunnyside has free valet parking across the street for overnight lodge guests. However, it gets filled up during busy lunch and dinner meal times. We had dinner in the restaurant on Saturday night. Both food and service were excellent. Overall, I would give it very high marks and would definitely stay there again.

Nice view...that's about it.

Posted Jul 3, 2017
Rooms are very small and the balcony can barley fit two people. The staff seems not to really care about the guests that much. Parking is hard to find and the restaurant staff was even rude on two occasions. Beautiful location but we won't go back to this place.

Hello, I'm sorry your experience was not what you expected. Summer time is really busy here. That is no excuse for being treated poorly by our staff. I will emphasize once again to my front desk staff about customer service. We would like for you to try us again. If so ask for me so we can make it better for you. Wonderful stay at Lake Tahoe

Posted Jun 15, 2017 on Hotels
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunnyside. We had a room with a deck and full view of the beautiful lake and we could not have asked for better weather. It was wonderful to wake up to the lake view every morning and fall asleep to the lake view with a full moon shining every night. My one comment is that the upper windows in the room do not have shades so the sun woke us up early (5:30am) every morning. Overall, not a bad way to wake up!!
