Finally - a resort fee worth paying for!

Posted Sep 13, 2017
Pros: Friendly staff, drop dead gorgeous view of the lake, plenty of aquatic activities and wonderful sandy beach. Wonderful for families.
Cons: Rooms were dark and not quite up to standard for the price we paid. The TV looks like it was wired in by a crazy person. But we're coming back!
Location: North shore has tons of shops, restaurants and places to visit. There is a Safeway about 2 miles away where you can buy steaks to cook on the BBQ.
You know how the airlines do it, right? You find a low fare to the east coast and buy the ticket, then find out that it will cost you $25 to check a bag, $8 for a crummy cold sandwich, then $7 for a warm beer. And you have a middle seat and no room for your carry-on luggage. I sort of feel the same way about booking a room in a casino or nice recreational area and then finding out that in addition to the room charge, I have to pay a "Resort Fee" - usually around $25. What if I don't want to use your resort? What if I just want to sleep there and leave the next day? Sorry! Those resort fees are not optional. Pay up or don't stay here. Well, I FINALLY found a place where I feel that I got my money's worth out of the resort fee - here at Mourelatos in North Lake Tahoe. My wife and I were celebrating our 47th anniversary (hard to believe, because we're both really young!) and had booked this online. I noticed the resort fee, grumbled, but went ahead with it anyway. We checked in - pleasantly, I'll add, and paid the fee. But we noticed that this really is a resort worth the fee..... there are barbecues, a sandy beach, more water equipment than I can describe, comfy beach chairs and umbrellas and friendly people managing the place. But beyond all that, there is this incredible view of Lake Tahoe - right there in front of you. We had planned on driving around North Shore the afternoon we arrived, but canned that idea and just sat on the beach, loving every minute of it.

Extremely happy with our stay at Mourelatos

Posted Sep 6, 2017
Pros: Unexpected activities. Wine and cheese tasting, S'mores on the beach, hot dog bbq one afternoon and fire dancing show after dark.
Cons: More plates and cups in kitchen room. Extras like napkins, foil, salt and pepper. We had to buy some and left it when we checked out.
Location: Many restaurants, grocery stores, water sports, quaint little towns for shopping all within a 5 minute drive.
I found and booked our family vacation with Moutrelatos purely on what I had researched online. We stayed in 3 different type rooms. 1st, room was the Lake view with kitchen, 2nd room, Lake view with king sized bed, 3rd Lake view 2 queen. The rooms were clean, stylishly set up, wonderful maid service and the every room has a lake view. It was quiet in the evenings for those who went to bed early. They had everything set up for a day at the beach. They had water bikes, paddle boards. beach toys for the children, use of a jet ski for a minimal fee. Not to mention the chaise lounges and umbrellas set up each day.

A great family place

Posted Sep 5, 2017
Pros: The beach was so great and at our doorstep. The free access to kayaks was an unexpected surprise.
Location: A 24-hour Safeway is a 5 minute drive away. You can get anything you want there.
A big, clean, private sand beach. Lots of chairs with umbrellas. Free access to sand and water toys (Kayaks, Paddle Boards, etc.) -- even a water trampoline. What more could we want? The kids (9 and 13) had a great time. Plenty of food options nearby (free coffee in the game room early was a nice feature) and Ice Cream across the street.

Beautiful view

Posted May 27, 2017
Pros: Lovely view.
Cons: The office needs to remain open and the staff needs to be more attentive,.
Location: Lake Tahoe!
The view at the hotel is wonderful Every room has a view of the lake. The room itself was nice except for the fact that it did not have air conditioning. We called the front desk about this and they said they would bring a fan. We waited about 15 minutes then finally went to the front desk and found the girl talking to some other employees. We did get the fan and it helped and of course at night it got cool. The office was not open consistently. They were supposed to have coffee in the morning which they did but not until almost nine. The hotel is in a nice location and has restaurants close by. I am not sure what the extra "resort" fee was for.

A hotel with private beach on a busy route

Posted May 20, 2017
We stayed in the hotel for two nights. The hotel has a nice private beach which was quiet at night and early morning. Since the hotel is on a very busy route so there were lots of traffic noises during the day. The room is spacious and the bed is ok. But the heater and fan in the bathroom had strong burning smell when it was on. To be safe, we did not turn on the fan for the rest of our stay. The room is poorly insulated with sounds from every where: the traffics, people talking, walking, kids running and laughing, and the popcorn popping sounds from the heaters in the adjacent rooms at 4 or 5 am in the morning. The common area looked like under some sort of unfinished construction. In short, this hotel has a beautiful beach view but needs more maintenance. Until that happens, I would not recommend it.

Lakeside views but breakfast blues

Posted May 8, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Kitchen and kayak rentals.
Cons: Breakfast fare.
Great location and views of Tahoe. Friendly helpful staff. Rented a kitchen room which keeps the food costs down. Toaster was a bit on the fritz but otherwise fine. "Free Breakfast" means coffee, apples and cereal. Not the best way to break my fast. Overall would recommend to stay.

Beautiful right on the water

Posted May 6, 2017
We liked staying here. Being right on the sand by the water was absolutely lovely. One downside is the high window that don't have window coverings and a light right outside the our room. It made the room too bright to easily fall asleep at night. Besides that we loved our room with the kitchen.

Dream view

Posted May 4, 2017
I spur of moment got room on Bch, saw the room and view and said one day is not enough. Next day moved upstairs overlooking the beach , decided I'll do three days and would do more if I didn't have to go on my journey.

Well run and tranquil ( end of April) Good room layout with small kitchen. Direct access to the lake from a little beach. Outstanding views.
